Hey so a buddy of mine just got a trd taco and is taking his shocks out. He is offering them to me for free but is it worth replacing my stock 2017 trd premium ones? Would I get a lift of them? Would it be a smother ride? Has any one done this swap?

No stick with what you have. You can't gain lift from shocks.
