I've decided to upgrade my 2021 ORP stock suspension with Dobinsons IMS + 2" lift. What benefits would I get with upper control arms at that lift level? I've read they're recommended for a 2.5"+ lift but not 2". Can someone explain if they bring benefits at a 2" lift level over OEM UCAs? Thanks!

You'll get 1" of extra travel due to the corrected ball joint angle. The alignment tech will also have more caster angle to play with when setting up the alignment.

Forgive my suspension ignorance, but I'm struggling finding out about what this is online - what does this mean / how does this translate in terms of offroad handling or road driving?

The aftermarket UCA may help get your alignment numbers more on par with OEM spec after you lift and alter the trucks suspension geometry. The extra travel will benefit you off-road with better traction when you flex...plus, an appropriately paired coilover/UCA setup will eliminate the potential for binding/contact with the coils. The ability to adjust caster figures above 3-4 degrees during an alignment will help reduce wandering on the highway at speed and helps move tires away from the body mount/pinch welds (limitations to this, research is your friend).

Search "Tinkerers Adventures" on YouTube, he does a spectacular job of explaining everything you need to know.

I have the Dobinsons 302/505 springs paired with their IMS shocks & with their tubular UCA. I'm very happy with the shocks/springs, but the UCA has been disappointing to say the least...Could not get anywhere near the advertised alignment figures. Spent the equivalent of their UCA's cost on alignments at off-road shops...I'd recommend cross-shopping other brand UCA's to pair with the suspension.

Sounds like your alignment shops didn't know the proper technique to get the correct alignment settings in the front. It's comical how alignment techs are so green and normally the lowest paid guys at a shop, then tasked with doing an alignment that they have no clue what they're actually doing, except looking at a screen.

I’ve had four attempts at this with off-road speciality shops. The driver side gets into the 3’s, but the max I could get any tech to push the passenger side is 2.6º before camber gets way outside the specified range. Four attempts, three of which were at an extremely reputable shop here in SoCal, multiple experienced techs……I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s not the people doing the alignment at this point.
