Not super scenic, but mildly scenic.

The real scenery was the other direction.

2-smoke with a new rear tire. Now I am intrigued.

The whole bike is new, only 5 hours on it. Bought it earlier this year once I found out I was moving from VA to AZ. I moved here two months ago but today was my first time getting out, I’ve been waiting to find someone to ride with. Gasgas ex 250.

Grew up riding in California but gave it up over a decade ago when I was sent east for the navy. Coming back west I knew I wanted to ride again.

Most definitely, I’m super happy with them, especially for the price. I’m glad I did them preemptively.

I have a 450 that will climb a wall. Torque is your friend.

I grew up riding mx two strokes (yz125/250) so was used to that, but getting back into riding 15 years later, these enduro two strokes are pretty torque-y. Very different from what I’m used to. Can tractor along at low rpm’s surprisingly well.

40 years ago I rode an IT-465 that had buckets of low end torque...but the engine didn't like running at low rpms. I used to carry a pocketful of extra spark plugs because it kept fouling them. But if I rode like I was in a race, working the engine fast and hard, no spark plug fouling.

Hit Schubarth Loop in CO yesterday for a little fun. 45 miles of trails in 4 hours. Mostly pretty easy trails but this section required 4wheel drive and folding in the mirrors, tree was a little close and there was a good size boulder on the drivers side to avoid too.

Dropped My Life [sic] at SkyHabor airport in Phoenix, AZ to pick her up in Austin, TX later in the week and drive back to Phoenix, AZ. From the airport headed south down Mineral Mountain Road near Florence Junction, AZ.

First stop, Granny's Pass, "a makeshift memorial site where over the years, locals have placed memorial placards and other items to pay tribute to OHV users who have enjoyed spending time out here." (-TrailOffroad)

    IMG_9483.HEIC.jpg IMG_9480.HEIC.jpg

Took almost 2 hours for India and me to navigate the Mineral Mountain Rock Waterfall, a 20-meter distance.

    IMG_9561 4.HEIC.jpg

We spent the first night at a random site just off a roadway southeast of Tucson, AZ (and west of Titan II Missile Base #5).

    Titan II.png

The next morning I realized how much India looks like the 4Runner and baptized India as The 3Runner.:rofl::rofl:

    Panorama.png

The next night we scored another random overnight site. This one is next to an FAA Air Traffic Control facility where we were warned, "Loss of human life may result from service interruption."

    IMG_9596.HEIC.jpg

    IMG_9591.png IMG_9598.HEIC.jpg

India wanted her bed near the FAA site to keep her eye on it rather than watch the sunset. (Do the 4Runner doors open and India's mask look similar? Or is it just a proud dad that sees that?):rofl::rofl:

    IMG_9602.HEIC.jpg

Next, the USA/Mexico border near Arena, New Mexico, where India wanted to practice maneuvers.

    IMG_9615.HEIC.jpg IMG_9609.HEIC.jpg

One more random overnight site. This one just outside of Fort Stockton, TX before heading to Austin, TX the next morning...

    IMG_9618.HEIC.jpg

...where I made chocolate chip cookies for the host. They didn't believe I could bake in the 4Runner. So I did.:rofl::rofl:

In da Ottowa NF in da UP.

The road had a promising name suggesting a mine was at the end, but came around a corner and found the bridge out. Still cool

Unfortunately he disappeared as quickly as he appeared, then the clouds parted and the sun came out! If he had only appeared in my toast!

Thanks on the Canopy, it’s the Ironman.

New Smyrna Beach, FL. Just south of Daytona Beach. My ORP 2023 midnight black with a number of modifications.

Here you can drive on the beach. I under coded my undercarriage and frame thoroughly with a lanolin based product well before it hit the sand. And then give it a good rinse after I got off the beach. I got a chance to use my 4 x 4 going through deep sand.
