    Hello all,

    I am hoping to pick up a 5th gen Limited. I do a lot of Colorado mountain driving in the winters so I was looking for a good set of snow tires.

    On Discount Tire's website it states that the Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2 is the "BEST" winter tire for the vehicle. But on Big O Tires website it states that the Blizzak does not meet the speed rating for this vehicle.

    Any insight into these opposing views?

    Well, they're rated to 112 MPH. So, just don't go over 112 with them. ;)

    It doesn't look like you're going to have a lot of choices in a winter tire, anyway. Blizzaks and Hakkapeliittas are generally the best snow tires, and I didn't see any Hakkapeliittas listed in your size.

    Welcome. I run the Blizzak DMV2 as my dedicated snow tire in Utah. It’s has amazing snow and ice traction. Just remember to replace them at 50% tread life.

    Just a thought;
    For Colorado mountain driving in winter an all terrain tire with 3peak mountain snow flake symbol might be a better choice than dedicated winter tire because there will be plenty warmer days during winter and if you take off pavement there would be broken branches and rocks most likely to puncture a street tire.
    Again just a thought, not advise. I've never used winter tires in my life. Even none of my non 4runner friends have winters. Fav tire of non-4runner friends who go skiing is Goodyear Assurance Weatherready tires. My favorite winter friendly tire is Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac.

    I read recently by that by law a tire shop is forbidden to mount tires on a vehicle with a lesser speed rating than those that originally came with the car.
