Looking for advice on buying 2023

New to Toyota.
I believe I'd like to get a SR5 premium for my wife.
The dealer has one coming in.

$49,999 seems very high for an sr5p. I just got a lunar rock ORP with kdss basically fully loaded for $50,488.

 

You mentioned 3rd row for the one that you're looking at. Is that a must?

 

I would start calling around to every dealer in your state to see what they have in stock or allocated. See if any are willing to work on price. If third row is not important to you it adds quite a bit to the price.
With the car market in steady decline I found multiple dealers in my area willing to wiggle slightly on price.

 

If you are flexible with your wants/needs you can get a better price if you shop around.
The market has eased a bit and dealers are willing to accommodate within reason if you are not insistent on a particular feature/trim.

Correct. It was an option on a vehicle that became available.
I have 2 dealers for a month now, keeping an eye on incoming inventory. This one checked all the boxes and then some.

Why can’t you keep a 4Runner with kdss forever?

I was just pointing that a fully loaded ORP kith kdss which is a 1750$ option is only 500$ more than the sr5p you mentioned.

 

I read and saw reviews on YouTube that it was a weak point

For what you are getting that sounds about right. The trd wheel package and the cargo tray add about 1800 to the price. I paid 1500 less for our SR5 premium but we didn't get the TRD wheels or the cargo liner just the floor liners. If the TRD wheels are not a must you can get one for about 48ish. Check the dealers in nyc and long island ny and see what they have.

 

Skip SR5 Premium and go for ORP. Negligible difference in price, better SKU, and better resale.

 

I’m my area dealers have been getting a lot of 4 runner allocations. My best recommendation would be to expand your search I think you could find one semi easily with the options you prefer and maybe even some wiggle room on price.

 

My how things have changed. My '20 SR5P with the "blackout package" (tube steps, TRD wheels, blacked out emblems, etc.) with sunroof was $44 brand new. But, I bought in January of '20 right before the shit hit the fan so maybe I was very lucky.

 

Just purchased a 2023 a few bucks under invoice. TRD OffRoad. Swapped the wheels day one. Everything else somewhat local to me was a SR5P or TRDP and they all have sunroofs. The only must I had was that I didn’t want a sunroof. But I was glad to see the dealer sell below invoice. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen that. I also see dealer allocation picking up so that means we may see more dealers jumping in.

Check Lancaster Toyota (south central PA). Ask for Dorota Karauda in new car sales. She’s awesome and easy to work with. They have more T4R’s than I’ve seen all year (some are in transit). I bought my 23 Limited here in February and did not encounter any ridiculous market adjustments or mark ups. Excellent dealer experience.

What dealer did you get it from and what is the location? how much under msrp did you get it for.

 

Our 2022 4Runner was $48,000. 3rd row seats, 2 wheel drive and midnight black in color. We have almost 30,000 miles on it now and my wife is pretty happy with it.

 

Look at central pa dealers. Most have 4runners in stock

 

Thanks, I contacted them. they are doing sticker price as well. They have a SR5P that has less options and will save us over 3k. We make travel the 3 hours and go that route.
