So let me start off by saying I am very particular about my vehicles and the way I treat them. I always follow the break in period correctly and even throw in a few of my own ideas. I just purchased a 23 sr5 and realized the engine timer on the dash for the total running time was at 7 hours! The vehicle only had 6 miles on it when I did my test drive so obviously it’s majority idled hrs. Now I understand the vehicle had to be transported with hundreds of others so it’s expected to have some running and sitting time while it’s moved from yard, ship, yard, moving truck, dealer, vehicle calibration etc… but 7 hrs seems pretty excessive. Am I just overthinking this or is this a problem? Input is greatly appreciated.

It’s not an engine timer. It just starts from 0 and keeps counting until you reset it. 7 hours if the entire time you have been driving since you owned it, not one ignition cycle.

I once had to wait for some work to be done at the dealership early one Sunday morning and while I waited the sales staff systematically started every car on the lot and let it idle for about 10 minutes. To charge the batteries.
