Hello, I need to do the front part of my frame. Do you cover all the hole that are in the frame that are facing the engine? I am thinking I will remove the skid plate for better access, trying to keep as much off the engine and all related parts. If anyone has some good ideas please post them. Thanks

Apply in every part of the frame you can get a wand into. Take off all the skids, spare tire and be sure to get underneath the radiator...at the crossmember where the foam piece attaches.

Frame degradation occurs from the inside out so getting internal areas is just as important. Avoid the engine itself, exhaust, etc. Not a big deal if you accidentally overspray though, it will burn off.

I use Blaster’s Surface Shield over Fluid Film. Most of the online reviews lean toward Surface Shield and I have been pleased as well. Both are Lanolin based so make every attempt to use one or the other. I made sure every access hole in the frame I could SEE was “hit” because rust from the inside out is the worst! Like a ticking bomb you can’t see!

Remove the skid plate, spare tire, and “hit” everything underside you see that is metal. Especially the frame which is coated in black factory paint.

If you get some of this lanolin spray on the exhaust, no big deal because it will burn off quickly. Leave a tarp down after application. The first application is important, because subsequent applications are basically for touchup purposes. Your first couple years of application are the most important ones IMO

I’ll post in 20 years t let you all know if it was worth it. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, how are you getting inside the front fenders and any issues with the material of your choice getting into the air filter when you spray the right fender? Thank you!

Do it outside, because the stuff is going to get everywhere. I covering the body if mine with painters plastic and blue taped it all around the bottom, because the overspray on the body is hard to wash off.

Do you get any spray on the body if you don’t do the bottom of the doors? Seems like it won’t get on paint?

The place that did my WoolWax masked off everything that shouldn't get coated. There were a couple edges on the wheel wells and rear doors that had some excess afterward. It cleaned up easily with a rag and a bit of alcohol.

I spray every literal thing underneath including the exhaust hangers minus the actual exhaust.

Skip rear spring perches or you'll have old door like squeaks later. Don't ask how I know.
