Hi, I’m new here but wondering if this has happened to anyone and they successfully
    Solved this issue.
I was towing my small camper when the connection to the trailer light hitch popped and then smoked. I removed the connection but found all my dash indicators are now all flashing.
I actually couldn’t shift the vehicle into drive since the ‘brakes’ were not being acknowledged. The dealership walked me through popping out the Chicklet and pressing the button near the shifter which I have to do each time now to drive.

I’ve gone to AutoZone and plugged in the diagnostic tool to try to reset the lights. That did not work. I replaced the 7.5Fuse dash light fuse. And that did not work. Finally I detached the negative charging on my battery for 10 minutes to reset and that did not work either. Help!
Short i’m going to the dealership 35 miles away I’m not sure what else I should do. Any suggestions??

From prior threads, have you confirmed your taillights and brake lights are working? I seem to remember hearing that if the taillight/brake light fuse is blown (which could be the case) then you will have those symptoms. You need to check *both* the taillights and the brake lights.

I don't know about the dash lights but as far as having to bypass the shift interlock every time I may be able to help.

Do the lights still flash even if you disconnect the trailer? If you haven't checked I would disconnect the trailer and see what happens.

As far as the issue goes with the shift interlock I would try and see if it works with the trailer disconnected. If that doesn't solve the problem, while you or someone else presses the brake pedal verify that brake lights are coming on. If the brake lights do not come one replace the brake switch and see what happens.

Taillights and brake lights are both working and I detached the camper immediately after the lights all went on on the dashboard. The shift interlock is interesting as I thought it would go away with the brake lights working.A8485FA6-7782-43C6-A7C9-CE9674EADE4B.jpg

I don't have the owners manual in front of me but I would look for a circuit/system that has all those lights/components in common but you could also check all the fuses.

Finding a blown fuse may be a challenge but that's the first thing I'd try. Could be mulitple fuses blown. There are two fuse boxes: one in the interior and one under the hood in the engine bay.

(Edited to add, depending on what happened that caused the initial problem, it's possible the connector has a short so I'd look there too.)

Here is a video that shows the location and IDs the fuses. According to this video, in the interior fuse box, #27 is the trailer light connection. In the engine fuse box, there are a few that seem related: 9, 26, 49

Thanks everyone. I checked all the fuses and #26 was blown and I replaced. However, all dash lights all are on still. In fact I noticed that the speedometer and back up camera are not working either% Ugh. I do love my squirrel but he’s not bringing me luck.
think I may have to drive to the dealership tomorrow.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery to see if anything will reset?
