Found this perfect spot for my H3R Fire Extinguisher. Did some trial and error with a MOLLE panel on my rear seat and a front seat mount. I'm losing about 2.5 seconds. Many can say that 2.5 seconds is a lot in a time where I'll need it.

It sits secure in the back and I'm kind of liking the placement. If I were to get hit from the side I'd have some issues though haha.

If you can think of any con of it being in this spot, please let me know!

Is that an ABC fire extinguisher?

I looked at that spot but decided it would be better for jack tools, gloves and stuff. I ended up putting my fire extinguisher on top of the wheel well for fast access.

It's to the left of the extinguisher. Hard to see in pic.

I keep mine on the floor between the drivers door and seat rail . Held in place by a 5' velcro strap around the rearward seat bolt. Open door, pull strap and I'm in business. Yeah, seconds count.

WE rarely have anyone in the back seat, so mine is on the floor behind the driver!

I'd feel access was a little limited in that location. I want fast easy access to my extinguisher.

I feel like that would take way too long to get to if you needed it in a pinch. I keep mine in my driver's side door pocket.

It's a good spot for a backup, or if that's one that you would use around the campfire.

I used the Desert Does It mount. Sits right in front of my seat. Super fast and easy access with the pull of the pin.

I wanted to thank you for this post! It saved me a lot of time and looking online! This is the cleanest install in my opinion. I’m waiting on my bottle to show up, I just installed the Desert Does It brackets. I have 2 4Runners I’m installing extinguishers in.

One question, how did you modify the original seat plastic finisher covers to fit? You did a neat job of it.

Thx! I'm glad you found it useful!

I just used a razor knife and carefully trimmed the plastic until it cleared the bracket.

I'm thinking of installing a CO2 fire extinguisher in my 4Runner. Mounted in front of the passenger seat looks like a good location. But CO2 extinguishers are 5 lbs. (and larger). Apparently, no one makes 2 1/2 lb. CO2 extinguishers.

Is a 5 lb. extinguisher too big to be mounted in front of the drivers seat?

    Thanks,
    Mike

For this setup do you have to buy the multi mount and the fire extinguisher mount separate?

Check out canned air; its smaller, cheaper, and same effectivness for beer cooling. Wet paper towel around bottle/can, upside down canned air, spay until the paper towel is frozen. Just don't get any of that on the can rim as there's added taste fouler crap so you don't huff it.

So you are concerned about losing 2.5 seconds and mount it in the trunk?

2.5 seconds is a lot of time. If time is a concern it has to be within reach of the drivers seat.

Love how simple and affordable this is. Can the seat move all the way forward with this setup?

    Wow both nice
I copied some dudes, bought a vehicle mount and installed a 2lb'er next to the drivers seat. Fits between door and seat, seat moves freely. Of course, you have to take the time to open your door in an emergency now that I think of it. But, I feel like it's slightly less likely to become a projectile in an accident.
    Cheers

I can’t help but think some of yall mounting in front seat are doing it for a cool factor.

Extinguishers spray 8-30 seconds. You’re not going to put out a car fire with one in 99% of the cases. Just mount it in the rear like a normal person.

It is cool up front. lol

Fires usually start small and get bigger, so there is something to say having it close by. That said mine is still in the back probably under my Wool hoodie.

How did you attach the bracket? I really do not want to drill holes in the floor. I have mine in the same place, but is held down with a velcro strap.
