Cell phone antenna placement

    I am getting ready to start my electrical upgrades on my 23 ORP, always on USB and 12V outlets (including some additional ports), 1000W pure sine-wave power inverter, weboost drive overland booster, anderson plug for my 12V fridge, and wiring for 12V trailer charging and RLB pro 8 switch panel. I have determined the mounting location for everything but the external cell phone antenna and was wondering where other people have mounted theirs.

    In order to fit the car into the garage I need to be able to fold the antenna down when not in use. I have mounted them to the roof rack on previous vehicles but I wanted to see what others have done on the 4runner. I have the mount for the roof rack or for attaching it to the rear hatch. I am planning on upgrading the rack next year to the golbi stealth rack.

    I like the idea of attaching it to the hatch but am concerned about the antenna getting hung up on vegetation and bending the sheet metal. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    No advice for you. More impressed by what you’re adding/doing? Any thoughts on whether you’re considering adding another battery? I was thinking about doing that and running all the exterior lighting and inverter to the spare battery

    At first I thought this was a post about the old cellular antennas of the 90's that's not needed anymore. lol That thing is huge.... Its definitely going to get ripped off of there. Having it mounted like that may also interfere with reception.

    I have my GMRS antenna mounted on the roof with a universal mount so i can change the antenna to a tall wip or the short stubby i have on for regular driving vs off road.

    I am planning on adding a second battery and upgrading the alternator at some point in time (probably next year), though I did run the same setup in a 2004 Honda odyssey for 15 years without doing either and had no problems. I am running a higher end battery and will be running 4 gauge wire to the inverter. I won't running the inverter at max capacity very often if ever.

    I am building a power tray that will be installed in the engine bay; which will contain positive and negative buss bars, the RLB Pro 8 relay housing, 12V fuse block, continues duty solenoids, and circuit breakers. I am running 2 gauge wire from the battery to the buss bars, 6 gauge wire for the 12V trailer charger, 4 gauge for inverter, 10 gauge for the fridge and 14 gauge for all the other items. Each component is protected by a fuse or a circuit breaker, including the power coming from the battery.
