2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
I have mine set on auto, so it switches on at every traffic light.

I think of it this way, if the guy behind me starts creeping up, it gives me an opportunity to turn on my flashers or honk because that person could be watching porn on their cell phone...

I will have front and rear facing dash cams, I would just like to avoid the accident in the first place which is convenient with the camera system.

Something is bothering me though and I've looked through Toyota's software to see if I could change it. That is a dark overlay on the front camera view. There is activity in the background, it's not anything like a split point for two cameras, but it is darkened.

Does anybody have an idea about how to defeat feature?

PS, I was trying to figure out where those blue lines correlate to so I kept on gazing over my hood to see how far away I was from the intersection line. I'm sure the owner's manual references the distance. Sheesh, like I read the manual!

It’s to keep you from trying to drive with just the front camera

If that is just a guess, I am laughing thinking about how Toyota engineers would do something like that!

At one point I thought it might be an indicator of where the gap is between the wheels at 20 ft or something.

Now, I need to put it in the 4L and see what the alignment marks are.

I guess I’ll have to stick to my ol’ fashioned periscope then.

Technically, "multi" terrain should include asphalt...

Just here to perpetuate rumors. Ever seen Bird Box? Can’t have you hitting shopping carts with painted windows
