2nd Gen "Rolled Runner" Restoration and Repair

Howdy folks, this is y first installment to my forum of the complete restoration of my 1994 4Runner from CA. I made a post about the origin story of how I obtained this truck and why its in the condition that its in now. So from here on out, its repair and resto time! Enjoy!

Pulling out engine.. ended up having to switch to the gantry because the cherry picker wouldnt raise it high enought to clear the grille.


Here is my father helping pull the engine out with the gantry from Harbor Freight, really useful tool, without it I would have had to pay someone to take the engine out.


Engines in rough shape, so I started taking it apart completely, I didnt photograph everything I wish I did, so I'll throw in here what I got


Intake plenum got removed before engine was pulled, stuffed paper towels to prevent any extra garbage entering already damaged engine. Main goal is to change the crankshaft


Everything is gross, rusty with mouse piss and feces, remanence of nests and old hack jobs so called "engine work." At least they used Fel-Pro gaskets


Oil cooler removal, came out easy and was PACKED with sludge, looked like a mix of coolant, oil, shavings, and maybe even mouse nests... maybe this could cause low oil pressure on the backside of the system? Not sure but its going to get fixed.


Here is the intake plenum right after being taken off engine. "V6 3.0 EFI" sticker was barely holding on


This coolant line was also plugged upa bit with some sort of thick sludge...


Lined up some parts to be cleaned with pressure washer after being soaked in degreaser


And repainted of course


For now this is the view inside the 4Runner,a whole mess of parts!
