What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

What is the total cost it is $11.66 over two or three years? Can anyone contact Jerry Johnson on this deal and if so do you contact info? I believe you can still sign up for extended warranty in the first year owning a new 4R.

The $11.66 is monthly over the 10 years that the vehicle service agreement is in effect. Toyota Financial Services treats this as an insurance policy of sorts. As I joked with them inaccurately, it's the price of two caramel ribbon crunch frappuccinos from Starbucks a month. It's actually less! I buy the big ones and those are $6.25 each.

Since Toyota handles the warranty from date of purchase and it won't lower the price if you buy it up to 3 years or 36,000 miles into the car's life, I bought it immediately. What could happen is the price can go up because, as we've seen through the political wranglings in this country, everything's getting more expensive by design. I doubt prices will be dropping for hard goods.

 

I bought 2 extended warranties in recent months from Jerry. Anyone can buy one before the 3 year/36k factory warranty expires.

If it were me, I would be looking at another dealership. It's kind of like pissing off a chef at a restaurant, I don't want to possibly taint my next meal deal.

Going to toyota.com, you can see inventory in the region. While I will never pit one dealer against another by telling a dealership somebody's pricing, I do invite dealers to "put your best foot forward and give me your best out the door pricing." I did that with my recent purchase and one dealership was $5,000 more. They kept acting as if they had a chance to sell me the same exact car with the only difference being that it was in silver metallic. CSM was my preferred first choice color, but it isn't worth $5,000 more than white. They were incredulous when I said I bought somewhere else.

Depending on what your trade is, you might do better just with a private sale using Auto Trader or something a little more focused towards serious car people.

PS I was ready to fly out to Arizona or even buy from Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota to get the color I wanted, because a one-way flight isn't that expensive. $5k, no way.

TRD rims with Lunar Rock totally rock. I'm not a big fan of the color, but it works with those wheels.

 

Well, I am hoping another dealer gets allocated what I want so I can go to another one…..

 

There are different levels of allocation. Manufacturing, transit by ship, arrival at port, on a truck... I just find a cool salesman at numerous dealerships and ask them to check through what's coming in and what stage it is at.

Don't be shy to look a little further away if somebody can give you a ride.

 

Do not trust the toyota websites. I checked for stock and drove all over to find nothing. Finally called the dealers and one about 50 miles away said they had 2 ORP's coming in and if I wanted one to put down a deposit. First time in auto shopping I got everything I wanted.

I am in the market for tires now after my Toyos let me down. Ready to pull the trigger on the Geolander G015 as I am on the pavement way more than I would like. Can you give me the specifics regarding which load rating etc. as these look like what I 'need'...

 

Finally got the parts installed. Yota Xpedition Pro grill and black valances, TRD Pro skid plate (only bought that because the previous owner jacked up the bolts for the original skid plate), OEM black-out emblem kit, new 265 KO2's and I painted the stock wheels (DipYourCar). Not shown are the Husky floormats. I also gave it a serious detail. I really want to replace the nerf bars with sliders, but I'm not sure my wife will be able to get in it without the steps...

 

Love the clean look. I was gonna detail mine today but got called into work.

Any opinions on debadging the rear pillars?

I have my reasons: Cleaning/waxing ease, being cool and mysterious, etc... Before I get it ceramic coated, I gotta make a decision.

 

I got rid of my stinking plastic badges, so much easier to wash and wax. Dental floss, goo-gone type solvent, and isopropyl alcohol do the trick.

 

I have a couple of variations to it... I use a hair dryer as the heat does loosen up the adhesive and the goo behind the adhesive and I will use WD-40 as the solvent on the adhesive that's left over. I have debadged everything I've owned since 2011, but the 4Runner is a different vibe, plus the name is obnoxiously on the back gate anyway.

I debadged a Subaru and got pulled over. I think the officer thought I was some racer kid. He walked around the car and wrote me up for a missing front license plate because he had nothing else on me. Jerk.

 

Finished jacking up and checking for control arm balljoint play, by hand and via prybar, with my wife.
Picked up newly released SPC non-zerk sealed balljoint replacement kit from Lordco.
Bought 25' black trailer wire from Lordco for additional offroad lighting.

The last nut I saw that big held a channel marker light tower to a concrete pylon, a bit upstream of Lock and Dam #18 on the Mississippi. How much does it weigh?

But seriously lol, I have no idea what they weigh or if it's different than the OG zerk joint weight. Tried googling the weight but can't find. Hell, it wasn't until this week that I even researched the weight of my wheels and tires I bought in '21 (85lbs a wheel!)

i want to get rid of mines too on my 2021 4R but afraid of the letter ghosting.. do you think it is too late..? also, I did a ceramic coat on the vehicle if that makes a difference.. metallic black color..

 

Minor crisis and horrible discovery, maybe horrible discovery... Maybe not.

I am trying to fish the rear camera line for my dash cam system partially through floorboard, partially over the headliner. It is there that I discovered that my ORP is equipped with curtain airbags in the cargo area. This model is not offered in any third row configuration. Knowing the price of airbags and the sensor system, I find it odd that they would voluntarily put curtain airbags all the way back over those windows in the cargo area.

I do see the benefits, especially if you have a pet carrier back there. Still, a wrinkle, a complication in my installation efforts.

 

If you've garaged your car, I would feel much more confident. You could always take off the word "off"very carefully and see if it has done anything. You can always replace it using 3M adhesive... And, you might even be able to get away with using the original adhesive if it's removed with heat only and no chemicals.

 

thanks for the feedback..should have remoived it then when i had the ceramic and tints done at the same time.. yeah i park in the driveway and leave the 97 4R in the garage other side is my mini gym..

 

Got the C4 Lo Pro bumper with high clearance additions installed along with a Warn VR Evo 10-S winch and Baja Designs 30" Amber light bar. Came out perfect but the Factor 55 Fairlead and Shackle are so thick you cannot put the license plate on using the Hawse mount so I had to swing the shackle out to a D link on the side so I could attach the plate. I wish C4 would have mentioned this on their site but overall I'm extremely happy with how well made this bumper is made!
