Does the 2023 off road premium really not come equipped with auto headlights?
Also, has anyone ever installed an aftermarket auto headlight mod?

I'd rather not have that. Does everything has to be automatic these days?

I don't use it because it sucks. The system doesn't reliably dim headlights, so it occasionally blinds oncoming traffic.

They're led and shut off automatically after a bit. Just leave them on at all times and they are automatic ... auto on when you start the car and auto off when you shut it off hahaha

Are we talking about auto high beams or headlights that automatically turn off after the vehicle is shut off?

Auto headlights are not a thing on the ORP unfortunately. There's so many features I feel like should have been included in what we pay for with these trucks, for me the driver side memory seat, automatic headlights and a power liftgate are on that list. Also, I find it hilarious that the ORP has heated steering wheel but doesn't have auto head lights or memory seat :(

Well we have both of those options already. I think op is upset about the fact the headlights don't automatically come on at dusk. It was a minor annoyance when I came in from my benz but honestly not a big deal.

I don't understand how features that people get upset are missing didn't realize they were missing when they test drove the vehicle. For instance, there are a lot missing from the 4Runner that my entry level Benz had, but I knew that before buying it. I bought the vehicle that checked the boxes I cared most about and accepted what was missing. Had I cared more about what was missing I would have ended up in a Lexus suv or another Benz.

I believe the OP is talking about auto on-off.

    So -
The ORP doesn't come with auto on/off headlights but it does come with auto dim. The TRD Pro and the Limited are the only models that have auto on/off and auto dim.

I have a 21 Venture that doesn't have auto on/off and a 22 Limited that does. But, both have auto dim.

    Hope that helps.

    Just a thought,
You can keep it ON all the time. It turn off when you lock the vehicle. There's a light sensor you can buy on Amazon/ eBay / Toyota for your headunit & interior lights to be on day time mode when there is daylight despite the headlights are in ON positions. Since 2023 4runner has LED lights you don't have to think too much about life of the bulbs like halogens.

LEDS may not go out like those Halogens.. but sureoutput dims over time. These headlights assemblies are costly. About $700 each side. Would rather not turn then on daytime. I use my Raptor lights for visibility

That’s what the daytime running lights are for, right?

I should have waited and got Solar Octane!

If my 2019 had auto headlights I’d disconnect them. Don’t like ‘em.

We needed more space (wife/3 kids/dog planned) and I wanted to start camping. Reliability/functionality/bad ass looks and readily available aftermarket to address anything that needed to be upgraded were all the reasons the 4Runner won out ;)

Only the Pro Bro and "Limited amount of people actually like the styling" have auto lights. It's not a joke because it is listed on Toyota's site and in the brochure.

I didnt see what the big deal was with auto lights when folks complained on this forum about it. That is definitely a solution, just leave it on all the time lol.

In OP’s defense, it is called an Off Road Premium. It’s a little misleading. You’d think a trim level with the word “premium” in the name would have all the bells and whistles.

In my opinion there should be another trim level — let’s call it the Unlimited. It would have the bodywork, suspension, and 17” wheels of the TRD Off Road, but with the full-time 4WD, leather seats, and all the other luxury amenities of the Limited. That would be something. I know there are guys who have done the conversion.

Or you can keep them on all the time and reprogram them via the Carista dongle to shut off when the driver's door gets opened, which IMO is a way better way of them operating.

My 97 Grand Cherokee had auto headlights, lol.

Toyota should make this standard across the board, because I've noticed Toyota drivers don't seem to realize headlights need to be turned on in inclement weather and at dusk.

You keep saying its "full time 4WD" but I have not seen anything from toyota that says so. If it were full time 4WD won't its mileage be lesser than ORP?

    From the owner’s manual:

    D9885AB9-C89E-48CE-9235-A89E2A051131.jpg

In the image, note at the top the words “full-time 4WD.” In the detail image of the shifter knob on the right note the lack of a 2WD option. Satisfied?

There's really nothing premium about any 4Runner. :D

The Limiteds are Full Time 4wd which is AWD but it has a center lock for 4wd and low range.

    Not quite.
So toyota gives 4WD capability with no loss in mpg? How is that even possible :)
