    Hi all,
Just joined the forum as I'm looking into getting a new 4Runner and wanted to drop a line and say "HI" to current members.

There definitely seems to be less stock here up in Canada as far as new ones go but wondering if anyone has recently ordered one and how long of a wait time has your dealers indicated it would take?

I'm also on the fence of deciding on whether I should go with base SR5 or pay the bit extra and go with the TRD Off Road (this one seems to be the sweet spot). Anyone members here that got a SR5 but wished they got the Off Road trip or vice versa? Would be interested in your opinions.

    Thanks.

Welcome. They essentially have the same drivetrain. The TRD Off-road will have a few more features available than the SR5.

Hello and welcome! I bought a 2023 SR5 with no options and love it. I feel that they're already fully loaded: LED headlights and fog lights, tow package, alloy wheels, passenger side rearview mirror (used to be an option!) and on the inside it has a stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and door locks, automatic transmission (LOL) and intermittent wipers! I could go on and on. I'm very happy with it and took the money I saved and invested it. Sticker was $38,505 I think with another couple thousand in add-ons, delivery fee, blah blah.

    Welcome to the forum!

The main issue you can run into is your dealership network allotment. This can vary greatly by region.

Thanks! Yes from comparison they both are very similar and in fact the SR5 is probably a good start and probably 90% of the time I wouldn't notice the difference. I'm just wondering if I'll regret not having the extra Off-Road features in the case where I get stuck :)
New to off-roading and plan to use this as a road trip vehicle across NA in the future.

Thanks. Great to hear you are enjoying your SR5. I also think I'd be happy with either but because I plan to keep it a long time I'm wondering if it's worth slurging the extra $4500 for the off road features just in case down the road I get more into the off-road fun (although I imagine the base SR5 is already pretty capable)?

The largest difference will be that 3rd-row seating is only available on the SR5 if you need this. Rear locker, MTM, and MTS/crawl control are only available on the TRD Off-road. Most everything else, with a few cosmetic differences, will be the same.

I had both. A 2020 SR5 that I traded in for a new 2023 Off Road Premium. My company has this auto allowance set up that you only get it, IF the vehicle is 4 years old or less. Shoot, my 2020 was not even broken in (< 55K miles) as COVID killed my driving for most of 2021 into 22.

IMO my new 2023 Off Road Premium drives better and smoother than did my 2020 SR5. I was told the suspension is better since it was designed for 4x4 and off roading. It also came with “leather like” seats and a moon roof too. Well, I definitely noticed these differences. All good too!

Back then, I had to add to my SR5 the TRD black rims, running boards and all leather to the 2020 SR5 which added up! $$$ Funny, as I traded in my 2020, I had them swap out the SR5 running boards and TRD black rims to my 2023 purchase but hold on…with the 2023 new tires! That saved me a chunk as I needed to get new tires for the 2020 SR5 anyway, so I was happy.

Last, you are in Canada and as for one that grew up in Buffalo, NY (#Billsmafia), you are going to want and NEED the 4x4 option! Trust me!

BTW, my kids are grown and I NEVER used the 3rd row seating in my SR5. Not once!
