Good morning. Former 2004 owner, got to 376k miles on mine before the brakes went, but engine still purred like a kitten. Hated to let it go though. Now in the market for a first car for my 17 year old and we are looking at a 4runner. Wanted to see about opinions on what we should be paying for a certain year/model, and wondering if thats allowed. I might have missed that in the "terms and conditions ", but not sure.

Are we able to lose questions like that in these forums? Thanks, looking forward to sticking around, looks like a good place!

Thanks! Used for sure, it's his first car. If I buy a new one, it's mine.....lol. I found an extremely clean 2001 4Runner, owned by an old lady for the last 10 years, she put about 10k per year. It's got 196k total. She has copies of all service, including brand new transmission at a Toyota dealer 4 years ago (40k +/-). Leather and exterior paint in good shape, has a tow package. Brand new tires, pioneer stereo with bluetooth, brakes, etc, all in good shape, only issues with the whole thing are a floppy visor, wobbly shifter, and sticky moonroof. It a 2wd.

I'm in Socal, so no rust issues, but guessing it adds a sellers premium to price....... She's asking $10,000. I am just wondering what a reasonable price is. I find them from $6000-12000 in that mileage/year range.

Thoughts?

Did I read that right, 376k before the brakes went? That's impressive even for a 'yota

 

Well, I obviously had to do rotors and stuff along the way, but the ABS system finally went out at that mileage. It was about $2400 to fix the immediate problem. But they recommended spending over 4000 to replace the whole system.
