Great exposure on the lunar eclipse. Good color range without over/under exposing. Very pretty.

I live and breath landscape astrophotography and it was the reason for getting the 4runner like many others. I recently astro modified my Sony A7iii to get more H-alpha wavelength in my photos. Always love to find like minded folks!

Loving this thread as it is checking off all of the boxes as I have way too much light pollution in my area.

Thanks to all of the people posting these pics to all the masses that do not have the opportunity to see this!

I live in Bortle 8-9 which is pretty polluted. Narrow Band Imaging is where it’s at. But for the longest time, it’s been cloudy at night.

Folks in my area have been at it for years and made some very nice images. There are better visual observing spots less than an hour away.

My first astrophotography attempt while on a backpacking trip last year. Shot with a Sony RX100v. Used a star finder app I had on my phone to tell where the Milky Way was going to be. Just got lucky it was viewable from where I was while I was there.

This was what brought the aurora earlier and if I understand correctly, it's come around the sun again.

There is a small community about 20 miles north of Deming, NM where a bunch of astro interested people live. Supposedly, it’s one of the darkest places in the US. A few years back, I got a chance to go into one of the domes that are built there and this was the telescope the guy had. At that time, he said it was the 2nd largest privately owned telescope in the world. The dome and the telescope were both electronically controlled. IMG_0014.png

Interesting. It looks as if it's square. Any more details?

ian408, yes, it’s square. I met this guy when he was flying his model airplane in the same field I was flying my Harris Hawk. We got to know each other over the next few months as I was interested in photographing his remote control planes. He hand builds all his planes, so, one day we ended up in his shop and that’s when I saw the dome where the telescope was in. This area is so dusty because it’s desert, so, I was surprised he could keep the scope clean. I drive past this area every day on my way to fly my hawks.
