I've always been curious to see what people have in the garage, or no garage, to work on their 4runners/other vehicles.

This is the place to post up what you've got, want to have, or used to have.

    Ill start.

    Craftsman everything, except the drill.

    Full rollaway

Ok I'll play. This is my box of hand tools that I keep in my shop at home. Kind of a mixed breed of everything from snap on, Mac, craftsman and matco.

Mac box on the left, old snapon on the right with misc tools. Cabinets and wall have spare parts and supplies.

Portable welding table with notcher and vise mounted.

Not shown is my bender and hydraulic press. Also have another box that lives in my shop at work with my miller 251 mig w/30a spool gun for welding aluminum. Next on the menu is tig welder and plasma cutter.

I had a boss once who was totally OCD and had a big rollaway full of tools without a mark on them. It’s not that he never used them. We all know guys like that. No, he used them but just kept them perfect. Inside the drawers everything was perfectly arranged in neat rows in descending order. On top of the rollaway there were three plastic boxes. A tap and die set, a hole saw set, and a small box with dial calipers in it. These were all stacked in a pyramid and perfectly centered atop the rollaway. His fastidiousness extended to all operations within the shop. Spray paint cans had to be returned to the shelf with the proper colored caps, and in order of the color spectrum. The table saw had to be vacuumed clean inside and out at the end of every day. It went on and on.

This compulsiveness used to drive one of my coworkers nuts. He took to opening a drawer in the boss’s rollaway and then slamming it closed so that all the tools inside would slide to the back of the drawer in a chaotic jumble. We never saw him do it, but the drawer had always been magically restored to perfection the next time we looked.

I had my own passive aggressive contribution. It took place over weeks. I would move the smallest box on the pyramid off-center an inch. The next time I walked by it was perfectly centered again. A few days later I’d move it off center by ⅞ of an inch. And on it went, with me moving the box an incrementally smaller distance every few days, and the micrometer box always being mysteriously re-centered without anyone seeing. It wasn’t until it got down to a quarter inch that he failed to correct it.

He never confronted us about our light hearted pranks. I think he knew he had a problem and was embarrassed.

Funny. Reminds me of my father in law. I used a squirt of WD 40 off the shelf where my father in law had 20 different cans between oil, paints wd40 carb cleaners etc. I knowing the way he is I made certain to put it back label out wiped clean exactly where he had it. At dinner that night he asks “ what did you need wd40 for?” That was his way of letting me know he knows everything.

I confess to having bought a duplicate tool because I had to move too much stuff get at the one I already had. Then there's workshop tools vs. garage tools vs. tools in the car, and who can forget the tools that my wife is allowed to use? Now she has all her own.

Good old saying, One is none and two is one. Gotta have multiples,

Cost me a bunch of money over the years building tool kits for motorcycles, 4 wheelers, race cars and motor homes.

Well at least they cant take em away.
