    Hi,

Have a ‘23 ORP and wanted to know what it would take to convert the rear liftgate to a powered one? I am pretty sure it could be done but not sure where to even begin and more importantly at what cost?

I have two kids who play hockey and having a powered liftgate would be very convenient. Truthfully, I was a little surprised it did not come with the option.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, this certainly helps. $650 does seem a little expensive. However, I have two kids who play hockey and are at the rink almost daily so in the end this winds up paying for itself in the convenience factor.

Instructions look easy enough but if I need to run wires from the back all the way to the dash, I would have it installed. I know my limits.

Ive been eyeing this conversion for awhile. KJTO also offers folding mirrors... Both mods are super intriguing... and pricey.

There was a thread, I think on the other site, or maybe I saw it elsewhere, about problems, like leaks damaging electrical components, with a mod like this, maybe this one.

I would search and look it over, assuming it was on one of the sites. It talked me out of trying it, especially when considering the cost as well.

I briefly considered a powered lift gate. Then I realize I'd only be adding complexity and more that can go wrong.

For using it every day and carry a lot of things, I understand the appeal. My wife has a power liftgate on her Outback, but mine is fully manual. I get frustrated when I drive her car because the hatch fights back when I try to close it manually. On the other hand, when I have a full-size weighted keyboard in one hand and an amp in the other, pushing a button with whatever finger I can get free is pretty nice.

Given the choice, I’d go with a supercharger. My kids can deal with the manual tailgate loading/unloading their hockey bags.
