    Hey all.
I've done a little looking around and it seems like there aren't any pre-made Cat shields for third gen.
However, that doesn't mean they aren't out there, it just means I haven't been able to find one.
So, I figured I would see if anyone out there has any leads.

These trucks are old; aftermarket support is dwindling for any and all things.

If you're nearby, we can figure out in making one that'll bolt on.

Otherwise maybe mock one up out of cardboard and send your dimensions; I can try cutting one out.

I bought a Cat Clamp. The only thing that fits this gen. It won't stop anyone determined but it should make them move on to an easier target.

That's very cool. I just had surgery on my shoulder a couple days ago so I'm not able to crawl around right now but I will look into it when I can.
Yeah, there's really no way to make anything 100% theft proof but if it's harder to steal there's definitely less of a chance they will try and move on to an easier target.
I'm just very sad that this is such a problem. Stealing so casually whether it be a Cadillac converter or a package off the porch is a sad state of the world we're in.

It was recommended to me to paint the cats with a bright color paint. The explanation is if they try to sell a painted cat the buyer will know it was stolen. I haven't tried it yet, but we did buy some high temperature use paint at the local auto parts store.

IF they would crack down on places that purchase 'em, it would slow the thefts down..maybe even stop it.

They've been trying but a lot of these get tossed in a shipping container and go straight to China. It's organized crime and it's not going through the scrap dealers.

Yeah, the people that are buying them don't care what color they are.
They're not following any kind of rules, and since they're just getting scrapped out they don't have to worry about the appearance cuz they're not reselling them.
I guess the newer makes and models are designed and built to make it harder if not impossible.
Just another issue with having a 20 plus year old vehicle.

    Sucks.

Got someone that wanted a transfer case skid plate, so I knocked it out.

10 minute job, just need to weld square tube between two of the brackets for the rear mount.

All from 1/4" scrap steel I had laying around since last year.

Have two others wanting cat shields, just waiting for dimensions. Unfortunately for other vehicles though.
