I just checked the website of the Toyota dealer where I bought my ORP. Town and Country Toyota , Charlotte NC. All the 4 Runners are marked $1000 off factory MSRP. Also, my wife has a deposit on a RAV4. We placed a deposit at MSRP (No written agreement) and all the Rav 4 prices have dropped 3.3 %, in her case $1178 (on a sticker of $35,510). This is a change. I have not seen any advertised mark-downs in a very long time. The Rav 4 mark-down is a larger % than the 4 Runners, which are more expensive.

I've also noticed 4runner inventories creeping up in my area. Still tight, but probably double what it was a couple of months ago.

The prices are staying at MSRP in Northern Mi. 4Runners are out there but in far fewer numbers that previous years. Each model seems to only be available in a couple colors and many are yet to be delivered to the port. Perhaps we'll see a softening as the year continues.

The supply of 4 Runners at my dealer consists of more Limited models and 2 WD SR5s. As of yesterday there are no ORPs and only 1 TRD Off Road. I am seeing a tight supply of ORPs, which is what I bought. But all the 4 Runners have a discount. Just last week they had a TRD Pro with a $10,000 mark-up. That vehicle is gone.

Who still buys these at markup? Even if you want a Pro why pay over MSRP and make it worse for everyone else.
I own ORP also and don't see things easing in northeast.

Limited are less in Demand. My wild guess because of the extra Bling.
Wonder why Nightshade was taken off the menu.

The FullTime 4WD is a big plus which is missing in other trims. Especially TRD Sports.
    No offense intended.

    too much chrome?
You start cross shopping limited with anything else, and it loses -- for interior amenities other SUVs win out, if that is your primary concern.
Plus, IMHO its the worst looking trim :crapstorm:

Here in the Midwest (St. Louis, MO) the Dealer I bought my ORP in 2021 does have a larger inventory of 4Runners, including two Pro's and two-three ORP's. But ALL are marked: "Final Price" = MSRP.
Funny, driving around town I've noticed over 90% of the 4R's I see are either SR5's or Limited's. My Dealer has called me twice in the last two years to ask if I want to sell my 4R back to them. LOL

You should say yes and that there is a 10K market adjustment ;) If it works, you profit from arbitrage due to market inefficiency!

To each, his own... As a Limited owner I certainly don't take offense to criticisms of the look, trim, extra chrome on the Limited. I would change a few things about how the Limited looks if it were up to me - but I'm OK with it. The Limited simply has the best 4WD system for how I use the vehicle - plus I wanted real leather. I tend to think the Off Road trims look the best also - but I have absolutely no plans to off road the vehicle. Not that I won't ever drive it "off road" - but I won't be purposely driving it on trails for the sole purpose of driving it on trails. The wife and I like to bike/hike a lot - so it does get driven on some gravel/dirt roads that are heavily rutted - certainly places you would not want to be driving a low clearance vehicle - but my main reason for wanting the full time 4WD is due to the winters/snow. I could get by with a less capable AWD vehicle - my wife does - but having the clearance and 4WD abilities of a 4Runner Limited is a luxury I have chosen to pay for. We get a lot of snow in the winter - but not enough that the roads are snow covered for weeks/months at a time. However, it is typical to have the main roads cleared after a large storm but have subdivision streets, parking lots, etc... still snow covered. With the full time 4WD there is no need to keep switching from 4HI back to 2WD when going from a snow covered side street to a cleared highway - and if nothing has been cleared just lock the center diff and you can drive it just about anywhere - certainly anywhere I would need to go. If I were Toyota - I would combine the Sport trim and the Limited trim into something that has the full time 4WD system, real durable leather seats, a little less blingy look, no extended panels under the doors that reduces clearance, and slightly smaller wheels with a little wider tires that are still more street oriented than off road oriented. If that vehicle was available I would have bought that. If the Sport trim was available with full time 4WD and real leather - I would have bought that. Prior to the Limited I drive now, I drove a 2010 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD double cab for over 12 years. Loved that truck - but the part time 4WD system just did not suit how I used the vehicle. When that thing was in 4Hi/4Lo it was a tank - but I found myself keeping it in 2WD when 4WD would have helped because the winter road conditions would have necessitated a lot of switching back and forth between 2WD and 4Hi. The 4WD system could have handled the frequent shifting - I have no doubt - I just didn't want to do it.

Our local dealership is still desperate to buy our 2020 TRD ORP. It’s going in for service today and they called to ask if they could make an offer on it. Again. My wife said sure, but we’d want a TRD Pro and to only owe the same amount we still have to pay off the 2020. It’s not going to happen but I’m entertained thinking about what they will end up offering.

    Make them squeal!
Think that you are standing up for every customer that was screwed by these dealers over pandemic years.

I think these dealership buybacks are just an angle to sell replacements. I get 2-3 offers a week by email and even text from Subaru dealers supposedly eager to get their hands on my 2010 Outback (240 kmiles).

It's crazy. I had a 2010 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD DBL CAB that I took really good care of and gave to my son when I bought my 4Runner. It had about 145K miles on it and ran as good as the day I bought it. Over the 4th of July weekend he hit a deer with the truck going about 60mph. Deer jumped right in front of him - he hit the deer before he could even react and hit the brakes. Insurance company totaled the truck and gave him $18,935 for it! I think I paid a little less than $26K for it 13 years ago. Can't say Toyotas don't hold their value. Used Tacomas and 4Runners are in just an insane level of demand right now.

Probably best to put all that money as down payment for another new or 3 year old Tacoma.
    Demands are high as used.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Auto repossessions have doubled among prime borrowers, bank repo lots are overflowing. Used autos are becoming plentiful with realistic prices again. New truck prices are ridiculous, many with the money to buy are just buying used which has caused new car dealers to lower prices to move product.

the dealership offered us $32,000 for our 2020 ORP (with KDSS if that matters in valuation) with 42,500 miles. It does need new tires soon and they “accounted for that expense” in the offer. And then for a TRD Pro offered it at MSRP + $5000 market adjustment + $1300 for delivery processing and handling, and then taxes and licenses would be do on top of that. For reference I’m in Northern California

You should counter-offer them with the same exact shenanigans that they're pulling. Tell them you'll buy their Pro at their terms if they buy your 4Runner with a $20,000 market adjustment and $2,500 delivery processing and handling. Explain how complicated finding the key is and how much time it takes to pull up a map to find their dealer. Don't forget to mention how limited the supply of 2020 4Runners is in this market. Then, when they have that stupid look on their face, ask them if they are done smoking their dope and do they want to give you realistic numbers.

Honestly, as offensive as their deal was, I would stop using their service department because of it.

Just picked up this 2023 TRD ORP today for $4200 off MSRP. Was the best deal I could find nationwide!

Thank you!! Had a long day of driving but worth it as my local dealerships had the same spec marked up by $1200 or at MSRP. Pretty excited for my first 4Runner! Hoping to keep it for two or three decades!

Congratulations !!! You should probably be in first place for making the best deal for 2023. A year from now, let us hear if the dealership calls you offering to buy your 4R back. LOL

Thank you! I feel super fortunate. Hope more folks find similar deals. Lol I’ll let you know but I plan on keeping for a VERY long time. Patiently waiting for the break in period oil change at 500-1000 miles to really feel it out :)
