I guess it’s time to fire up a build thread here since y’all are great folks and the other site is kind of a dumpster fire…lol.

    our rig: 2019 TRD off-road w/ KDSS.

Bought in 2021 with 8500 miles to replace several vintage jeep projects that kept me in the garage rather than on the trails exploring, fishing and having fun.

    Build rational:
    • Durable & Balanced
    • Buy once, cry once mods
    • Fits 5 and can be driven reliably to/from trails and on road trips.
    • We’re not big campers anymore. We now usually book hotels and airbnb’s in cool places and do day trips from a home base, but this rig is setup to spend a few nights in the boonies, if needed, all the same.
    Current Build list
    • Lift: Dobinson’s lift kit
    • UCA: Dobinsons
    • KDSS spacers: Treaty Oak
    • Tires: 285/70 R17 BFG’s
    • Winch mount: Warn low-pro
    • Winch: Warn m8000 w/ Amazon synthetic line and Warn aluminum hawse fairlead.
    • Snorkel: Safari/ARB
    • Diff breathers: ARB
    • Roof rack: Frontrunner
    • Rack gear:
      • Maxtrax
      • Dual can carrier
      • Hi-lift
      • HF rifle case
      • DIY antenna/flag mount
      • Ironman4x4 awning
    • Rear bumper: Victory4x4
    • Cargo area:
      • AJC gear plate
      • Iceco slide
      • Igloo HD cooler
      • Rago fab molle shelf
      • Surplus molle pouches
      • QD extinguisher mount
    • Crawl box: Marlin Crawler
    • Birds eye camera: AJC
    • HD rear trailing arms: ROKMEN
    • Armor:
      • 4xinnovations belly skid set
      • 4xinnovations sliders
      • C4 diff/locker skid
      • Rear shock skid: RCI
      • Rear trailing arm mount: RCI
      • Cam tab plates: Total Chaos
That was all mostly compete in 2021, with the crawl box being our most recent major upgrade at the end of 2022, having taken her out to a handful of different offroad areas.

    So far we been to:
    • Moab
    • Anza-borrego
    • Pismo
    • Several local trails
    Future trail/trip plans:
    • Big bear trails/gold relics
    • Norcal/sierra’s/ gold country
    • Kentucky/Tennessee adventure trails
    • Idaho/Montana flyfishing and sightseeing.
    • Colorado trails and fall color trip.

Glad to be here. Cheers, y’all.

Thanks, y’all! Few pics of the roof loadout. We started with LFD ruggedized bars (which were a great first option) and then moved to the Frontrunner. Needed more real estate up top for lightweight gear, and also re-configuration of the LFD’s was very difficult in comparison.
Also, we ran a swingaway on the Strike bumper for a while, found that we hated it for daily use of the rig, so having the bigger rack made removing the carrier much easier.

With 5 folks, the cargo area and rooftop are usually stuffed to the brim. The rago fab shelf is a gamechanger.

also the iceco slide allows us to get to our cooler while on the road without having to unpack everything

How is the rifle case or other gear mounted to rack? Can't tell if your strapping down or drilling thru bottom and bolting to rack. We use our rig similar loading up with people and gear. The roof rack helps a lot for all the overflow stuff going to roof.

Good question! The frontrunner rack has left to right channels built-in that accept 8mm hex head bolts facing up. You can slide them anywhere you need. That’s the basis of their accessories. Also, the edges of the frontrunner rack are uber-strong and built to accept accessory brackets
    Here’s our setup:
    • the maxtrax mounts are custom fab brackets using maxtrax pins. (Though a Frontrunner mount is available)
    • The rifle box is just drilled through the base and secured with four bolts, wide washers and nylock nuts.
    • The gas can, awning, hi-lift mounts are all Frontrunner accessories.
    • We also still have our thule sidekick travel box and it’s mounted exactly like the rifle box, four bolts, directly to the rack surface. Solid as a rock, since the slats it sits on offer a lot of support rather than just thule/yakima aero bars clamps.
