    Hello

New to forum. I have an 01 4-Runner Limited I bought about 2-years ago w 250K miles on it.

Just had a rough week with it. Had to leave it sitting for about 4-months and came back to it needing a new starter. Within about 15 miles after I got the new starter in the transmission began slipping.

I found out that the fitting in the radiator for the transmission cooler (send line) had popped out. Looks like the threads in the radiator/cooler side had stripped.

Anyway, Im about to buy a new one, but there are so many options from $100 to $400 that I'd really like some recommendations from people in the know.

Look forward to hearing from you

I bought a lifetime one from Advance auto. They last about the time it takes to do a timing belt (125k miles). So I just get another one. My original didn't last past 125k miles. So I can't say which is better.

Starter - don't buy one, rebuild your current one. Chances are you got a crappy one parts store variant now.

    Radiator - easy, Denso.

Agree with others, just rebuild your starter.
As far as radiators go, I put a CSF (bought from RockAuto) in my 07 last year and it’s been great.

Mostly stock except OME lift/TJM bumper
When I got my 97 5-speed, I installed the stock OEM radiator. When i get to 100K miles, I'll put another one of those in. Unlike most parts sold through Toyota USA, the radiators are not expensive. The CSF radiator got positive comments on the 4Runner forum toyota-4runner.org.
