I’m not sure if you’re watching your tire weight but the ko2 weighs 50lb in C and the Ko3 is 56

i love my 285/70/17 falken wp at3 in SL. When they are worn out, I might try the same tire in C load. Not sure because ive have great experiences with the SL Falkens Ive had on (3) 4runners.

7 9 23 Runner2.jpg Wow! Info overload is an understatement, but I love it. I went w/Wildpeaks in the stock size within 500 miles of purchase. After 2.5 years and 30K miles they are doing well in all situations.
I recently put on a full Bilstein lift w/5160 and 6112. The tires obviously have plenty of room and no issues w/gas mileage. Not to say I'm not open to experimenting w/size and brand but so far so good.

My experience with the KO2 on a 2 door wrangler has been favorable. We bought them in 2015 when KO2 were still new, and now 40-45k miles later the tires have reached the end of their life and need to be replaced. At that time the KO2 were by far the best option, but since then that has changed.

They did well in deep mud and self cleaned very well, on loose rocks they did well, I had them fishtail on wet pavement though. Aparently the slide easily on snow covered roads, but that was my Dads experience and he refused to put it into 4wd for some reason (so it's partly his fault). I don't think BFG tires give any reason not to go with them again, but it's my parents call since it's their vehicle, not mine.

I don't expect BFG to mess up the KO3, it's one of their most popular tires and I bet they put a lot of resources into them. I think Falkens seem like a really good choice. People love or hate Goodyear, I have their Adventurer on my 4runner and they've been fine. Be careful with goodyear, sometimes they sell a different version of a tire for OEM that is lighter duty than the aftermarket version.

I think when my Goodyears wear out I'll go with the cooper ATP3. I'm surprised no one mentioned cooper. I had the original Cooper ATP on my 4runner when I got it, they were garbage but the current ones seem much better

While looking for pics of my 78 FJ40, I ran across a pic of what the wifey did to our 2011 FJ Cruiser.

it was pouring rain with slush on the road. She lost control, rolled it a couple times, and slid upside down through 80’ of chain link fence. Our dog was in the backseat. Both only had scrapes and bruises thankfully. Glad nobody was in the front passenger seat because I doubt they would have survived.

She destroyed my 4Runner about 10 years prior to the FJ. She wasn’t nearly as lucky that time regarding injuries. It was pretty bad. She’s a cat with 9 lives apparently.

I have Falken Wildpeaks in 275/70r17 load C. I actively tell people to avoid K02s. They are old, better tires exist now, and they are a hazard in the rain

I went with cooper discoverer rugged treks in P load. Took the size and weight hit even though they are P loads (285/70). They don't get the same 3PMS rating as stock size XL load for some reason but my 5k mile report is that they're pretty great.

They were overinflated to 38 psi when installed. I could feel every bump and variation in the road for most of their life (max 44 psi rating). I dropped them to 27/28 psi cold and they warmed up to 30-32 psi on recent road trips to NC and DE (from MD). Wow, what a difference in the lower psi range - can really feel how great the dobs ims feels now that I'm not riding on Flintstone rocks.

Drove through the craziest t-storms I've ever been through, with lots of standing water on the roads, on these trips and thought they did amazing at not hydroplaning.

Unfortunately haven't done a lot offroad yet but with them being a very agressive hybrid, I expect them to do well. They may get louder with wear and with no radio you can hear a hum but I usually have the radio cranked to 27 with windows up (and 36 with sunroof and all windows down) and don't find them "loud" at all.

Yes they do, and I was a little disappointed I didn't go with the MT BB after seeing a review of the sidewall lugs... until someone posted the mickeys only get them in e load.

I was torn between the two when trying to pick a hybrid - the mickeys were too new for a lot of reviews so I didn't have a lot of other opinions to go by. I also looked at the yoka MT's but decided a dedicated MT tire was dumb for my usage

Any chance you could get a few pictures of the side lugs on those Mickeys? I'm considering them also, and I'm just curious how they look.

Ask and you shall receive. Photos uploaded in reverse order that they were taken but you can see the depth gauge and corresponding measurements before it.

Agreed. I'd be curious to see what the E Load side wall looks like. If it is in fact more aggressive.

I hated my KO2s. 285/70-17 load C. Treads had cuts and chunks missing early on from 2 weekends of what i thought was light offroading. They were a pain to get balanced and never held balance beyond next oil change timing. I did tolerate them for 55,000 miles though because traction was good in all conditions.

Just got Toyo RT Trail 285/70-17 load C recently. Very nice smooth ride but only have about 100 miles so far. Did great in heavy rain and hot dry roads.

These rt trails are looking great, definitely my next tire. Just trying to decided on 285 70 17 load c or 255 80 17 load e.

Did they take a lot of weight to balance?

Didn't seem like much weight to me. Didn't count it up. 4.00oz was biggest number i saw on machine but i wasn't always watching them. Can tell at a glance that it's a lot fewer weights than Ridge Grapplers i had on Tacoma in past.

The analysis pain is over. Thanks for the input everyone. Ultimately, I went old-school known quantity, just like the 4runner. Replaced my K02s load C with the same thing in 285/70-17. Too much money and potential headache as a daily driver for me to try another one, especially since K02s have proven themselves to me with how I use them.

Only have 5 miles on them, so no reviews lol. But they look awesome!

Does this make my tires look fat? Lol :p

I got the Geolander AT's GO15 stock size as replacements for the OEM Bridgestones. They are snow rated . Great grip. not too noisy
