I have a 98 4Runner Limited that has the VIP RS3000 system in it. I did not have any key fobs for it when I bought it. I contacted a local Toyota dealer and requested the part number for the correct fob for my VIN. I purchased this fob online, it's an OEM dark grey one. When trying to program the fob following the directions found on many forums, the Piezo chirps twice and the headlights flash after pushing the top button on the fob. I turn the key off and close the door. When I push the button again, nothing happens. No chirps, and doors do not lock/unlock. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not sure where to start to trouble shoot.

Which part number did they give you? 98' was the cutoff for the 3000 remote and takes a different one, which is why I'm asking.

Gotcha. I just wanted to make sure. That is the correct part number for the 98'+. It's possible that another component is causing the trouble and not pairing the remote correctly, but you'd have to go digging through the system to find out what's giving you the issue.
