The seal or weather stripping around the rear hatch on my wife's 2021 4runner ltd has worked loose in one corner where she drags a heavy case in and out several times a day. It appears that the 10mm bolts around the bottom of the opening hold the weather stripping in place, but I can't see exactly how. Do I use adhesive to repair the loose part (about a foot of rubber seal on the lower right corner) or replace the whole thing?

Pictures would help us form an opinion on whether to repair or replace the seal.

Before you do either it would be a good idea to figure out a way to get the heavy case in and out without damaging the seal again. Maybe put a furniture blanket in the cargo space big enough that a flap can fold out over the bumper? Put a couple of grommets in the forward edge of the blanket to allow it to be tied to the front tie downs in the cargo area to resist the blanket being dragged out with the case?

    And welcome to the board!
