I just bought some because I need it for my clutch master cylinder, and there is a 7-Eleven within my 5over1. I've never heard of 7-11 branded anything automotive, I hope it doesn't ruin my brand new clutch master cylinder.

One nice thing is it's sold in a 12oz bottle, so I wont have a crap ton of left over brake fluid in an open container once I'm done. Obviously 7-11 contracted someone to make this. It does say meets federal motor vehicle safety standard 116 and SAE J1703.

like gas and motor oil brake fluid is regulated. whatever standard is on the bottle is what the contents meet at minimum. since it’s simply the clutch slave/master i’d say the risk is low.

funny i’d trust 7-elevens house brand dot 3 over the hot dogs at the register.

over the counter medicine made in foreign countries is made to the same “standard” yet gets rejected at a higher rate…

im sure in the basic sense it is dot 3, but for 13.99 at autozone why not pick up a jug and flush it out if you’re concerned?

Fresh fluid from a generic store brand is better than old fluid in your system. Who is the mfr in the fine print on the bottle?

it’s for a clutch master and slave. why go through that much trouble for no benefits?

Just because dot 4 has a higher number than dot 3 does not mean it's better. Dot 4 fluid has a higher boiling point, but it absorbs more water so it requires replacing more often. So for sports cars dot 4 is better, but if you want longer change intervals and drive a vehicle that will never see a race track or a heavy duty tow rig- Dot 3 is better.

Not only does my 4runner call for dot 3 fluid, but this is for my clutch not my brakes. This fluid will never approach the boiling point of Dot 3. Using dot 4 fluid as clutch fluid is like buying high octane fuel for a 2 stroke lawnmower engine.

And for things like auto transmission fluid, there are examples where there isn't backwards compatibility, so choosing the highest number could actually do more harm than good.
