I have recently just purchased a 2021 4Runner SR5. It came with the base radio system I assume. It does not have the advanced navigation system etc., can it be switched to the premium model?, thank you.

Welcome. Honestly, just use apple car play or android auto with your choice of map app. It will probably work better than the factory nav.

This and exactly this...although I do wish Apple carplay had bluetooth capability in my 2022. I feel like someone explained why it doesn't before but if there is anyone that can refresh my memory?

You can connect via Bluetooth but it won’t be CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay works via Wi-Fi. For whatever reason, although the 4R has Wi-Fi capabilities, it isn’t available for CarPlay

Wow I didn't know that. My pre-2020 SR5, TRD ORP, Limited had/has the same navigation system. Only difference was Limited has JBL speaker system. Navigation and other apps were same.

I assumed 2020+ SR5 have the same system as top of the line Limited minus JBL speakers? I'm surprised I didn't notice that.

Does your 4Runner have the SOS button on the overhead console? What happens when you press the NAV button?
