I just bought my third 4Runner (2000 sr5 4wd), but first time with these wheels.

3 have a chrome-ish finish, and one has more of a matte look to it.

Did these come in different finishes, or were some of my wheels refinished?
....and which do you like better?

I think I have across both versions in the past. I think these wheels were the standard option in the Limited trim. Personally, I prefer the shinier version. The matte version has an aftermarket look.

I don't believe they had multiple finishes for the 5 stars. They were exclusively found on limited and where the best wheel option imo. The 2nd photo looks glossy and I've never heard of them coming with multiple finishes.

It makes me think the 2nd photo wheel was clear coated to prevent tarnishing, I prefer the 1st photo, but neither would look bad.

Thanks for the input here folks!

Makes sense that they’d only produce them in a single coat. Also makes sense that a lot of folks would clear coat a 23 year old set of wheels!

It doesn’t bother me too much, but someday I’d like the rear wheel to match the other three. I’d imagine my best best is to keep an eye on junkyards/ebay/the for sale threads here?

Also, according to the buyer’s guide thread on here, looks like these were an option for SR5s (at least for whatever year this brochure was made)
