Hello, I'm new to the suspension game, I'm looking for set of front coilovers for my 2018 TRD off-road. Could some one explain to me why there are 2 different part number #25001-278 and #25001-133? Are there any structural differences? Is the one with adjuster much better than non-adjuster ones?

4Runner (278) and FJ (133) respectively. "A" denotes compression adjuster reservoir.

Long back I remember my friend Hugo at R4T (CO Toyota 4x4shop) talking about differences how the reservoir part different from KDSS to Non KDSS. I don't remember if its valid for Kings. Maybe good to check with manufacturer or knowledgeable Toyota 4x4shop. If you have KDSS on your TRD ORP be carefull with non Toyota specialist shops.

I just got a reply from a vendor, he said King discontinued 278, just wonder if 133 and 278 are the same thing now

Yes they must have. Early FJs 07' - 09' might be the same as the 4th gen 4Runners.
Filthy Motorsports has updated their site.

Having installed King shocks recently on my 2016 4Runner there is a different mounting orientation of reservoirs in the front for KDSS vs non-KDSS according to instructions. I suspect the hose lengths may also be different.

I agree with @kmeeg and talk with someone who specializes in Kings. I used Filthy Motorsports and only have great things to say.

Also, as you probably know, there is more to a good suspension setup than shocks. Spring rates, spring height, etc. After King being my third suspension setup with new springs, and the highest of all 3 lifts, the 4Runner handles better than it ever has. I was skeptical on some of the recommendations on lift height, etc. from Ben at Filthy Motorsports, but I was proven wrong and the reasoning for the guidance based on his understanding of my needs and 4Runner geometry was sound advice.

May I know what's your part number? Should I go for 25001-278 or 25001-133, my 4runner does not have KDSS

My part numbers on the receipt show 25001-243/25001-125. So neither of what you listed.

I still strongly recommend sending Ben at Filthy Motorsports an email - sales@filthyms.com

I found them through their youtube channel and others on the board have used them. They know 4Runners and Kings and will talk you through what you need.

Not a cheap purchase and I preferred someone to do the heavy lifting of figuring out the right King configuration and also someone to do any valving adjustments.

I have zero affiliation with them.
