i was hoping for a creative answer, but that is a good answer.

 

There's no creative way to fix that plastic cover. It's either a new cover or an aftermarket bumper as a solution.

 

I think they hit your front bumper also...sounds like front and rear armor is needed ASAP.

This makes my blood boil and is becoming a normal/ acceptable behavior in today’s society. When and why did lack of personal accountability and disregard for other’s personal property be ok?

 

at least they missed your tail light! But yes, new bumper cover paint and install is prob cheapest option here.

I'm with you on this. It's outrageous how no one is held accountable for their actions today. The 4runner we got has a dent in the hatch from the same kinda thing, someone backed into it in a parking garage.

Temporary fix until the steel bumpers, you could do the ole' Frankenstein dirt bike plastic stitching...drill some holes and use some zip ties to keep it all together.

 

Another vote for Insurance claim. See if they will just write you a check to fix it. You can then pocket money and live with it, fix it with oem or aftermarket parts, or buy some clips and buff out. Hopefully it damaged your tail lights to, so you could ditch those ugly things...hahaha

 

I think it looks a full replacement bumper with a just in case for the front end.

 

I had a similar thing happen. I thankfully, came out to my truck with witness notes on it, and the number of a guy who took a picture of the person that hit me. He also made them leave their info. It was fixed under their insurance, and it came out to around 1300 bucks.

 

I just got hit and run situation and I just want to curse that one get a car crash. I would let them go if at least write me a sorry note. Wt* with this society now a day. I just calm my self that it is just a chance to modify our truck a little bit. I feel sorry for you and for me. Yup, play with it a little bit. Add a steel bumper on the rear with some pointy arrow point out.mNext time they hit they sorry for themselves.

Normally when I hit someone's vehicle I immediately jump out and start to write a note. Usually the note reads, "I hit your truck so I'm leaving this note. Witnesses think I'm leaving you my info. But I'm not." Then I stick it under the wiper.

Turns out it was my neighbor across the street who backed into it then proceeded to

a) not tell me for a week+
b) blame me for where i parked (legally, on the street)

He drives a latest generation Range Rover SVR.

 

At first, I was like WTF!?!?! Then I realized it was a joke and couldn't stop laughing.

 

When I got rear ended in my XJ back in the day, I took the insurance claim check and bought a solid steel bumper. You should do the same.

 

Ditto the above... Might as well make it buff on your insurance companies dime, they are going to happily eat your co-pay.

Most off-road bumpers (except the ugly ones) retain the upper portion of the bumper cover, the portion that is cracked on yours. Example:

^Lol it's a Range Rover, just let attrition take its course. A sunroof leak will probably short out a wiring bundle and burn the vehicle down within the next year or so.
