Does the second row in a 2023 SR5 forerunner have pull down head rests or must you remove them to fold the seats down? Thanks

Welcome. You just need to fold the headrest forward before folding the seat back down.

^^There's a lever on the side to fold them.

Yeah, I don’t have a lever, so I’m wondering if this is unique to SR5 do all of them not have levers? Or is it just mine?

This is a 2023 4Runner SR5 from a dealer website, and it has the lever. Are you sure yours doesn't?

Do you have 3rd row seats? That might be the reason?

^^^ Is that setup, those headrests, unique to the 3rd row trucks? Because on my 2 row the headrests are huge. Without folding them down there's be no possibility of folding down the seat. And even with folding down, I have to move both front seats forward in order for the folding seats to clear the back of the front seats. It's such a pain that I just remove the headrests when I need to fold down.

Thank you so so much for every response. Yes I do have a lever. It was hidden under a head rest cover that my son installed for me. I’m not sure how I didn’t notice that this morning (other than sleep deprivation from working too much.). Even with the lever, I think I’ll probably still pull them off because it was much easier to flip it down with them off. It’ll probably just stay down for the summer anyway. Thank you all so much.

Welcome to the forum! And, get some rest, lol!

They fold down fine with the headrests folded. Mine are like that a lot of the time.

My back seats stay down all of the time. I have removed the seat bottoms so I can still comfortably slide the front seats back and recline. Also, I can store small items where the second-row bottoms would normally fold.

Hmmmm. My back seats will probably stay down most of the time too. I haven't looked but (since it works for you) I assume the seat backs of the 2nd row don't need the folded seat bottoms for support?

I haven’t needed the bottoms for any support. The pups sit on the folded seats and we will sometimes sleep in the back. I have had this set up in my 2016 limited, 2020 Pro, and now the 2023 Pro. The only time the seat bottoms go in, are if we need to transport a third or fourth person. This may happen once or twice a year at most. I’ll try and get a picture or two for reference.
