I have a 2015 4-runner Limited, Magnetic grey. From time to time the audio,be it radio,cd or navigation will cut out then it seems to re-boot itself and come back on. this can happen anywhere at any time . Never in the same area or time. Any ideas before i go to the dealer ??

    Much appreciated, Fred

possible a amplifier failure or a connector pin

post back what they find ... dealership will probably replace the unit and give no details .

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
I've had mine reboot randomly maybe 5 times so far, its annoying and I can never replicate it. If you do go to the dealer let us know what they say I'm curious.

also welcome to the site

My wifes 2014 4R SR5 was doing the same thing. Toyota issued a TS-B - trouble service bulletin for this issue. For those who do not know - a TS-B can performed by a dealer without charge if the issue occurs within 3 yrs/36K miles - works the same as bumper-to-bumper coverage. After that - you pay for the dealer to perform the TS-B. Here's the TS-B:

It's a very common issue, if you look over on t4r.org.

My personal experience with it is that the more "stuff"you have running, the more likely the system is to hang up. For example, my shit froze a lot when I had BT on and was using nav. If one or the other was off, hang ups were less common. After I deleted the phone and ceased using BT, and didn't use nav, I never had the issue.

Yeah, there are supposed fixes, software updates, a few people have had head units replaced under warranty. ...but it seems the problems persist unless you basically just use the system as a radio receiver.

I had the same issue. My phone would sync to the head unit automatically when I got in. If the phone was connected, the head unit would reboot over and over. Once I disconnected my phone, no more issues. Turned out that I had so many text messages, etc. on the phone that the head unit was having problems with all the data. After I deleted all the useless crap from my phone it has never happened since. Hope this helps.
