So, I’m currently trying to install a lift on my 4runner, and while disassembling the front suspension, the instructions said to disconnect a line going to the struts. This line plugs directly into the strut with a small bolt, and when unplugged it spews oily fluid out. No one else online mentions this, and I’m fairly concerned about how to go back to refill and bleed whatever fluid this is to before driving the car. Any help appreciated, thank you!

Kind of sounds like the XREAS system. I’d start there in your search for how to bleed/replace the fluid.

I see you have a 2008 Limited. Could be wrong but I think all Limited’s came with the XREAS suspension system so I’m almost certain this is what you’re dealing with. If you’re unfamiliar, all 4 corners of shocks are connected via hydraulic lines (what I think your post is about).

Lots with more in the works
Ditch the XREAS and get regular shocks (they aren't struts). They are a direct swap and you can remove the crappy XREAS system and save a ton of money by not buying them again. You have to do front and rear at the same time tho.
