How dangerous is running without X-REAS?

So, I just installed a lift on my 4runner, but used the original struts in the front. The lift kit, the paper instructions, and the instructional video all failed to mention that the X-REAS system can’t just be pulled apart and put back together, so I didn’t know any better until a buddy told me to check the forums. The 4runner is put back together now, and has all of the necessary suspension components EXCEPT a good amount of fluid from the X-REAS system that is currently on my garage floor. My question is: just how dangerous is it to drive without the fluid in the struts. Is it safe to go pick up new struts 5 miles away? Is it safe to ride on this for a little bit? Is it suicide to try to pull out of the driveway? Might be a stupid question, but I’m not seeing answers for my particular vehicle and suspension. Thanks!

More than a few people get rid of XREAS altogether. I suggest you search for deleting XREAS to see how close you are to having done that already. I can't comment on the consequences of having it in some intermediate state.

Lots with more in the works
It'd be fine for a short drive but will ride like crap. Ditch the XREAS all together and swap to normal shocks. You have to do both front and rear tho, not just the front or rear.
