'85 overheated

    I need some guidance. My 85 V6 over heated. Nothing in the oil, thermostat works, no noise from water pump. what do I check next.

    Radiator. At this age it probably needs to be either replaced or, if you have a good radiator shop nearby, have them rod out the original. I did this with mine. Refill with Zerex Asian.

    Also 85s never came with the V6 so when they swapped it in, they most likely left the 4-cylinder radiator.

    i must sincerely thank you. if I blew the head gasket I will probably put an original 4 back in it. i have.very little invested in the truck, s o I don't mind making it right, it's a Toy, they are worth it. thank mutf

    You're quite welcome! And you are right about them being worth it. They SO are! I used to be a Jeep guy but this 4rnr won me over 20 years ago and I've never looked back!

    I've been driving for runners and Pickups since 1998! I won't drive anything else my wife thinks I'm nuts but I haven't had a car payment since 1987. My 91 pickup was totaled after hitting two deer in one week but it still runs like a charm I took the insurance check and bought the 4Runner I'm miles ahead I can invest in it thanks so much it's nice talking to you
