I’m thinking of buying this 4runner and I’m worried about the rust. Is this repairable and can it be done with just a wire wheel? Cheers guys!

Welcome from Wisconsin! It looks like some of the major components are fixable, but maybe sand blasting would be better? The lower control arms are replaceable.

Wire Wheel and then 2K Paint should be good on that Rear Axle, did as much to mine.. Can just as easily be done in situ..

As for the Front Lowers, might as well replace those [as well as the Uppers..?] as @Toy4X4 suggests..

I'd suggest a Panhard Bracket extension too, to accommodate the Suspension Lift and keep the Bar level..

Welcome from Arizona. Elbow grease, power tools, wire brush, paint. Doesn't look bad at all.

Looks good so far. Iwent through a restoration like this once, it's a lot of work, sometimes the hardest part is getting going on the project! Keep us posted... thanx.

Honestly that doesn't look bad too me, going by northeast standards.

I would want to see pics of the most common failure points before making final judgement though.

At the least, you're in for a lot of sanding/wire wheeling with that. Depending on how far you want to go, having it dry ice blasted might be worth it.
