I'm going to be adding a new front skid plate to my 2020 TRD ORP to replace the stock one. I've been looking into the aftermarket TRD plate from CarTrimHome (currently top option). Then RCI and RSG. The real reason I like the CarTrimHome version is for the TRD lettering, but now . Can someone give me their experiences with RCI and/or RSG?
I'm very much liking the RSG style as it seems to cover more area, going up and front-wards (is that even a word).

    Thanks!

Thanks! This looks badass and I like how its 1/4" thick. My only question is (sorry if it sounds dumb), when selecting KDSS and the option "No..I don't have the 4x I Bolt On Sliders", will I be able to add the 4x Innovations Sliders later on without issue? Only reason I'm asking this is because when selectiong Yes vs No on the "I have 4x I BOLT ON SLIDERS", the Yes claims in-stock (no lead time) and the No claims it's a 2-3 week lead time.

    Thanks.

The guys at RCI and Jason at RSG are both amazing to work with. They are very knowledgeable and stand behind their products. You can’t go wrong with either company. I personally have full RCI skids with the factory TRD engine skid.

Thank you. I'm still leaning towards to the Car Trim Home TRD replica front skid. The KDSS compatible version seems to be pretty solid.

The Cartrimhome one is just slightly less than a 1/4”, but still seems solid enough to take an unplanned hit. After taking off the existing shields and the extra braces there is a slight weight savings too.

I see complaints about Cartrimhome KDSS TRD skid having rubbing issues. Might wanna check on that. I haven't heard skids like RCI, RSG KDSS versions having this problem.

Thanks for this thread. I've heard this as well and was curious if it was like a one-off issue, but seems like it's more frequent than I'd like to take a chance one. Looks like it'll be an RSG or RCI coin flip. Thanks again, super helpful!

RCI might still have their tax sale going on.

The kit comes with spacers that the bolts screw through between plate and 4Runner frame. All you have to do is get slightly longer bolts and spacers and then have piece of mind. I have the passenger side on a ramp and the drivers side is extending to bring sway bar close. The skid plate lip is block view to inside plate, but there is about a 1/4” gap between sway bar circular mount and plate.

    Just a minor thing..
I got RCI aluminum my non KDSS and its little narrow where I could see the LCA bolts. So I added LCA skids to cover them.
By the pics RSG skids seems little wider on front covering a larger area.

I don't have KDSS so I don't know. Call Adam at 4x. He will.

I am very happy with the RCI aluminum skid plates. They shaved down the devil's staircase on broken arrow about 3/8th of an inch with no bending or deflection and the first drop and hit was fairly substantial. If I had not been aired down I think it would have cleared.

I have full RCI aluminum skids. Very happy with fit and quality. If I should have gone steel for strength instead of weight savings is the only thing I question myself on. Time will tell.......

I have steel and I intend to replace with aluminum because steel is too damn heavy.
