Lift kit with KDSS?

    I have a 2010 4Runner Trail and want to put a 2.5” billstein lift on. Will I have any issues regarding the KDSS or my upper control arms? Also what size tire can I fit without having to trim?

    No. Make sure they’re compatible with KDSS, some aren’t. And do some reading and you’ll find your answer quickly, and that it varies. 285’s seem standard.

    Welcome, no problem with the lift. 275 no trim, 285 maybe trim.

    This forum has good amount of info on this. Search around than rely on just one thread.

    "Accutuneoffroad" also has excellent articles about "KDSS Suspension Tech" & "IFS Upper Control Arms". Probably the best articles in my opinion which I like to read and learn.

    With my experience 265 & 275 are the max with stock wheels you can fit without having to trim? But I do have a friend who runs 285/70R17 on stock SR5 wheels with ReadyLift 3in lift and stock UCAs without trim.


    Also -
    It is adviceable to go to a Toyota specialized 4x4 shop not generic lift shop that lift Jeeps and other 4x4s especially to avoid KDSS specific problems. Most commonly KDSS lean. Also things like pan hard bar hitting KDSS bracket in rear. Good Toyota specialized 4x4 shops know what to do and what not.

    Kits have special parts for KDSS. Normally good shops know what to order. But I think billstein kits are pretty easy but if I were to do it I would let the shop order all the parts needed.

    RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
    If you're going 2.5" in back, the KDSS spacers from Treaty Oak might be a worthwhile investment.

    Otherwise, I'm at 2.5/1.5" for 70K miles and haven't had any issues.

    At 2.5" you shouldn't need UCA's to get the alignment in spec.

    As far as trimming, it will come down to your alignment specs and wheel offset. But, as @JET4 mentioned, 275/70/17's generally fit without any trimming, while 285/70/17's usually require minor trimming.

    Thanks everyone for the advice. The specific lift I want is bilstein 5100’s does anyone know if that is compatible with KDSS. I can’t really find anything confirming or denying online

    If anything, there might be different height settings. But, otherwise it's probably compatible. Could be worth an email to the seller or manufacturer to confirm, though. :notsure:
