Recently got a new 22 4Runner TRD Pro. I am in the Green Bay Area.

I am interested in buying new or very lightly used OEM running board. I am interested in the older OEM running board as pictured below. However, I am open to the trail edition. Please let me know what you have. Keep in mind that the price for a pair of NEW OEM Trail running board is $320-350. Thanks!

I need some guidance and ideas. I have noticed that when the heat or air is on, I get this very light ticking noise no matter the speed. I’m assuming it’s the fan itself. But has anyone had something similar or know what the fix is? Thank you in advance

I think @McSpazatron might have fixed a noisy fan in his. Mine makes a little noise also, so I should probably pay attention to whatever the solution is. :D

A dry leaf, twig, or something could have dropped into the squirrel cage fan that sits right below the cabin air filter element.

My noise started right after I changed filter, because I wasnt careful and dropped a bunch of crap down there lol.

It’s kind of a pain in the ass to reach down there to pick the stuff out of the blades. An L shaped stick with a ball of tape on the end might help with getting it out. Look carefully, it doesnt take much in the fan to for it to make noise.

Thank you, it’s been driving me nuts. Even turning up the stereo, my ears automatically focus on the ticking. I will give that a try on my next off days.

I would have liked to been on that rock slope. Retirement is in my very near future, then I will get to plan around our 'off-road' adventures, instead of the other way around. Like I said once before, for now I'll be a silent partner!

There are a fair share of logging roads around the area. Some of the trails may have 'berms' in front of them making it not legal to go on. The super dry weather has made lots of the trails very dusty. Try contacting the DNR in Eau Claire Co., they would be able to give you a list. The next best thing... exploration! Have fun.

Hey all... just joined up, and I'm a new 4Runner owner. First proper off-road vehicle in 20 years...once upon a time I had a Jeep Cherokee XJ with a mild lift and some Super Swampers - very capable rig, all things considered. In the meantime I did manage to occasionally offroad some other vehicles I have owned, including a Volvo.

At any rate, I now find myself with a TRD Offroad Premium. I installed the TRD skid plate a few days ago, Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires were added on Monday, and this week I'll be putting on the Apex Overland recovery points. I suspect the only real weak point to the vehicle is that I have the "off-road" running boards - still trying to decide what I want to do next - and when that will actually be, because I'm not going to be in continual modding mode.

Planning on taking my son up to Tigerton middle of next week. Would certainly appreciate insight regarding which trails to hit and which trails to avoid given my stock ride height and the OEM running boards. I'm looking to have a good time without scaring him half to death, incurring damage that could be avoided with future mods, or getting totally stranded and devoured by wolves.

Obviously I could just stick to the perimeter, but it would be nice to see more than that given the drive involved to get there. Naturally the stupid amount of rain we just received might shuffle the deck a bit.

    Welcome to the forum!

A bunch of us were just there this past weekend.

Most of the trails are rated in difficulty levels 1-6. Level 3 should be fine for a stock vehicle. I think "Eastern Leisure trail" and "Sunday Drive Trail" should be fine. @McSpazatron is practically a regular there, and might have some more insight.

Also, I'd recommend having at least a shovel and traction boards, especially if you're going through any mud. If you see anything you're not sure of, just back out, or take a bypass if possible.

Otherwise, take it slow and use your best judgement. Have fun! And, post pictures!

I bought a set of X-bull recovery boards, and will have those handy - hadn’t thought of the shovel, that’s a good idea.

It’s definitely going to be weird having all the fun extras at my disposal (rear locker, ATRAC, etc).

My locker is on the fritz, so I have been using A-TRAC a lot. It's seriously the bee's knees! I usually only used the locker when I was already stuck. It saved my ass numerous times.

These things will go pretty far stock. The biggest limitations are the OEM granny tires and lack of armor.
