Mobil 1 75/90 FS Non-LS

I'm about to replace the factory fluid in the diffs and transfer case with this stuff. I'll let y'all know whether it blows up or not

Well I hope you're right. Toyota has definitely planted the seed of doubt by having all these proprietary fluids and not saying what the equivalent is. Guess that's just business...

 

Toyota doesn't make oil though. Someone else does and they slap their name on it.

 

Is there any advice against using the LS version of this? The data says is suitable for non-limited slip applications? I’ll get whichever has been vetted. Just wondering if the LS additive is beneficial?

 

LS-safe gear oil actually has fewer additives. Regular oil has friction reducing additives that are good for gears, but bad for clutches that you want to stick together. Typically non-LS oil is more common and cheaper. Neither one makes a difference for a non-LS differential.

 

As long as it’s GL5, your golden.

 

Red Line is the best diff fluid. I know I am going to get a lot of grief for the next statement BUT Mobil 1 isnt that good, it is just marketed extremely well. Look at the analysis reports, Mobil 1 performs horribly

 

All of this stuff is just about the same. They all have very similar specs - Lucas Oil is another brand name out there with the same performance. I am about to use Lucas on a re-gearing job I have coming up, but Mobil should be similar. Post pictures if you can.
