2021 trd 4Runner noise while turning vehicle left to right

    Has anybody else heard this noise happens when I turn to the right sometimes and when I turn left to right back-and-forth rocking my vehicle left to right well going 10 to 15 miles an hour

    I have a click a low speed turn or when turning hard over right and reversing -- it's not like the click-click-click of a CV joint. I think it's maybe a brake thing or something -- needless to say, I've been OCD'ing about it since I bought my '18 OR 10 months ago. Nobody has been able to give me a good guess as to what it is and my CV boots/axles look pristine. :annoyed:

    My 4Runner does this too. It started at about 12k miles; happens most commonly after coming to a stop, turning the wheel right or left and just after the brakes are released and the vehicle starts reversing. It's a "clack" sound. I don't think it's the brakes since the vehicle has already been driven at that point and it's too new to have sticking pistons. I don't think it's a ball joint because it doesn't happen when steering R or L, only just as the vehicle starts moving just after stopping and usually with the steering wheel turned.

    I have a Wescott lift installed since 6k miles so I don't think that's a factor either. My mechanic had the truck on the lift and checked the suspension, steering linkage, wheel bearings, etc. and could not find anything loose.

    The noise does not happen all the time; I can perform the same maneuver several times and it doesn't necessarily repeat. Stumped.....

    Actually, I have a 3.25" lift, and had the exact same issue, and it bugged the hell out of me. I was getting a click when moving the steering, and sometimes when braking on a downhill exit ramp off of the highway. It took me months to figure out, but I finally did. I realise that it was the front sway bar hitting against the bottom of the spring. I installed the sway bar "relocation" kit, and the click went away. I agree with you, it was annoying as hell.     Thanks Sean. What I don't understand is how this is happening with minimal compression of the suspension. Were you experiencing the same thing? Would love to speak to you on the phone if possible. Please DM me if this is possible and thanks!

    My issue was just solved by having the lower control arm bolts torqued to 133ft lb; they had been torqued to 80ft lb by the tech that installed the lift kit. There is no longer an issue, I'm very happy to say.
