Rear tailgate window

Hey everyone I just picked up and 87 4Runner and it’s missing the rear window I’ve been on a mission trying to find one and can’t seem to find one. I wanted to see if anyone in here had one or could send me In The right direction of locating one. Please and thank you!

 

Welcome. Without knowing where you're at, i would probably say the usual boots on the ground scouring of junk yards. But online you can check ebay or copart. Maybe glassrack. Net too?

I have the rear glass and electronic lift assembly....both in good condition. I'm in Cleveland.

I did quite a bit of searching and it looks like there is a list of part numbers that I believe are all first gen rear glass:

68105-89101 --- 1984.08-1985.08
68105-89102 --- 1984.08-1985.08
68131-89101 --- 1986.08-1989.03
68131-89101 --- 1984.03-1986.08
68105-89103 --- 1985.08-1989.03
68105-89104 --- 1985.08-1989.03

That link has the 68105-89101 (1984-1985) glass but I wonder if that would work on any of the first gens... The part is only $180 but shipping to me was almost $300; if anyone is willing to risk it and it ends up fitting that would be good to know though!

I figured out a solution if the 1st gen glass is too hard to find/too expensive; I made a post about it: https://www.4runners.com/threads/2nd-gen-rear-glass-in-1st-gen-4runner.34478/#post-508430

Basically you can fit 2nd gen glass in a 1st gen if you have the metal rail piece that attaches to the bottom; its not quite as nice as a stock one but it generally works and you can buy brand new 2nd gen glass on ebay right now for under $200.

 

Why not just get Lexan and cut it to match the 1st gen glass?

 

@se7enine I think it would scratch since it has to go up and down, also it is curved a little bit and so a flat piece may not fit correctly. I actually did think about trying that but decided using actual glass was probably a better call. The side windows on the canopy can be (and I did that for those).
