    Hello,
I have a 2005 limited 4Runner. The headlights, that auto turn on at dusk stay on all day even though the sun is shining. Does anyone have any ideas on the cause. Plus, it affects some of my usb plugs as well. Thanks in advance

I'd think either the exterior cover of your headlights isn't letting enough light through, which fools the sensors, or the sensors are bad. I'd start by cleaning the headlight covers, or even replacing them if they can't be cleaned well enough. If that doesn't work or your headlight covers are already clean, you should probably have the sensors checked and replaced if necessary.

Headlight sensor is located on the dash, up close to the windshield, so the headlights being hazed over wouldn't cause this.

I'd start by turning off the auto function all together. Should be controlled on the turn signal stalk, that's where it's located on my 2003. Just turn the headlight switch one click towards yourself while sitting in the driver seat and that should turn off the auto function.

I didn't even think about turning off the automatic function and mistakenly assumed where the automatic sensor is. I agree with your recommendation, just turn off the auto function. It's not hard to figure out when you need to turn on the lights.

Thanks all. I have turned off the auto function. My big concern is that it affects some other electrical components. I read that it might be a faulty light relay as well.

Its probably the sensor. Maybe its covered by too much dust or something and thinks its night time at all times.
