This is a question for those with 4Runners with the Sliding Rear Cargo Deck. How deep is the compartment. I am looking to be able to store a shotgun and/or an AR-15 inside the compartment and am wondering if the compartment is sufficient or if I would need to look at other options. Thank you in advance for any information.

Is there a usable compartment under there? I assume the void space is filled by the cargo tray as it slides back in. I believe the 3rd row / non cargo tray models have a void space that others have found big enough to accommodate a shorter long gun but I'm hard pressed to see where you'd place one under the sliding cargo tray. I have a 2nd row / non tray model so I can't look at my own and advise.

    oh the list....!
Don't try to put anything of any significance under it. Won't fit. Tried it. Little pocket in front, ? Seems good for some wrags, gloves, and hand cleaner. Wanted to put a loosely coiled jumper cable underneath, nope, jumpsuit, nope. pistol, nope. BUT!!!! will say this. AS for moving heavy ass items out OVER the bumper/hitch...... Fantastic...Has come very handy.

    Is plasti-dip a mod?!
There’s a little room in the compartment, but not a lot. I’ve got a collapsible lug wrench and a small set of sockets with ratchet in mine. There’s space under the sliding deck for flatter objects,I’m building a travel first aid kit to stick under it, otherwise not a lot of storage. Eventually, I’m going to buy those rago fab molle panels for the rear glass area, that will give more storage options.

I have a molle panel like that for behind the rear seats of my Tacoma. It works great.
