Look outside of the Gulf States and Southeast Toyota regions and you will find much better deals. Also, knowing what you're trading in will help.

What brand are those cat shields? What if it gets messed up in transport? Did you ask that question? Is the money refundable if the truck arrives damaged?

Here in Denver MSRP is $47.6K - In N Blue

If you proceed, I’d have them give you that verbal promise in writing. It’ll help you relax about it.

always get it in writing that you get your money back, and be specific about what for (condition, don't like, etc). CYA. I would only give required deposit until you viewed it. Or record the verbal agreement on your phone's video camera or something. Always CYA, or you WILL be thrown under the bus.

What about TTL? That needs to be included in the out the door total. I agree with others - the 'cat protection' price is outrageous.

Has the dealer said if any of the add ons can be removed or non negotiable? Buying a new car now is a different animal. New games keep coming up.

I agree, unless those are things you want. Apart from that, it looks OK.

I signed papers on mine when it was in transit, but only had to put down a $500 (non-refundable) deposit.

Bottom line, it's YOUR pocket book. If YOU think it's a deal, it is.

Just protect yourself and money with those verbal promises and them wanting the paperwork signed before it even arrives. Red flags in my head, but just my 2 cents.

To me it's not. Appearance package, cat guards are grossly overpriced. No need to put a huge deposit. Good dealers will take $500 for a deposit. Walk away.

$7,300 check up front is ridiculous, maybe $1-2k deposit and put it in writing for sure!

No legitimate dealer is going to do a verbal deal period. I am no attorney but as I recall from the law section of my cpa exam no legal agreement for $500 or more is enforceable by law if it is not in writing. It is just smart to get it all in writing. Personally I would walk as it sounds like some bs pacakages in there anyway.

Trust me there is another dealer out there willing to get you one, not screw you over (as much) and put it in writing.

Without any details on your trade, it’s difficult to say that you’re actually getting good money for it. The rest of the deal isn’t really good.

Year, make, model, mileage, condition, etc?

Sounds as if you have already bought the new one and maybe want to justify the purchase?

    None
How much do you owe on the current car? In may be misreading, but $47k “paid off” reads as if they’re paying off your current vehicle note and you have either no equity or you’re upside down in it.

Agree with some others, I wouldn’t take that vehicle protection package and cat shield option as those grossly overvalued prices. If they did away with those, fine.

Im also in the camp that a $500 deposit to lock in the sale is far more reasonable.

I bought my brand new ORP with those same gulf states add ons (off-road upgrade package, black emblems and cargo carrier) in San Marcos. MSRP was $51k and they were firm there, but no other wonky add ons. Three people tried to buy it while I was there. I pay cash for all my stuff, so not sure if they had better financing rates, but I liked that they were straight forward on the price with no other “protection” add ons.

From what you typed up, I’d “personally” walk away unless they ditch those two add ons. There’s a number of fair dealers in TX that won’t do that stuff.
