Has anyone upgraded the 12 volt outlet under the head unit to the toyota part number above. I have a 2023 4runner TRD Premium? If so, can it be plug and play?

I have the part on order right now. From everything I've see it is a direct plug and play replacement for the 12v plug.

I just installed the dual usb power port last night, it is plug and play. It took me about 20 minutes total time to get it in.

I think the price is worth it for the part to look factory, have the Toyota quality behind it, and be plug and play.

The part number I listed in the title is a Toyota part number. This dual USB can be installed in the 12v charger round hole
by the Toyota dealer and can be ordered with your 4runner. This part perfectly fits the circular 12v factory hole and plugs into factory wiring. There is no cutting or splicing the factory wiring. I do not see any reason to go to Amazon for something that does not fit perfectly. I did the install myself and my only issue was getting the 12v plug to release from the trim piece. I am very happy with the appearance and functionality.

Does this replace the round 12v plug or the single USB plug?

Sounds like the round 12v plug

edit:I’d like to see the single replaced with a double myself.

Is it a plug & play part? Doesn't look like plug and play, looks like a permanent fix. It has a square cover vs the 12v circular port has a more round cover. IMO Spare Parts have a valid question. "Any photos?" to see its fit and finish.

(If its a permanent thing) Just a thought, lucky that I didn't go for a permanent thing and I kept the original 12V circular port I was able to plug in my laptop charger while I take some meetings while waiting at the school pick up line.

I was just answering the questions about the pic.

    Nothing about plug and play.

It fits directly into the hole left when you remove the cig lighter. I added one inside my center console and inside the glove box. The most you might have to do is splice into the factory harness if there are no wire terminals on your charger. I used part number 00016-00225.

Oddly, that's among what they included with the $199 option for 2 USB ports + fast charging cables. So now including the 12V plug in the console, I can charge 5 devices at once in the front seat.

Any idea why a 2023 Limited isn’t listed in the fitments? I have the kit that has the dual-port plug-in, but I’d rather have something that doesn’t stick out as much. The only thing I can think is the bezel interferes with the seat heater/cooler controls. Could someone measure the bezel height and width?

Mine came with it. I like not having to plug it in the center console if I don’t feel like using Apple car play like in my Tacoma.

I don’t understand why these USB-power socket adapters aren’t more popular. They are cheaper and way more versatile: you can get 2 USB-A ports, or a USB-A port and a USB-C port. They can deliver more power than the Toyota part. When the next USB-standard connector rolls out, you can just upgrade for another $7. And at your whim you can pull it out and plug in your favorite 12 volt toys.

@kmeeg how long have you had that adapter and how has it held up?

And when I traded my Tacoma, I just switched it from that to the runner, might even say it was my first mod.
