I am about to install dobinsons UCAs(non-adjustable, 3 degree caster built-in). Les schwab will do my alignment for $100-110 and a more specialty shop quoted me 150-200. I personally know the shop does good work as I have used them before for other things but is the price difference worth it or is an alignment like this pretty straight forward(as long as tech isn't lazy about it).?

    Man, it’s tough.
When I got my $1k UCA’s I went to a Lamb’s tires (chain) and went back 3 times before telling them to give me my money back.

The only OffRoad shop here that I trusted required a drop off of truck. No can do.

Found another local shop that had good reviews and they did a good job.

it’s just a matter of who their tech is. Lambs claimed their master tech did my alignment. See how that went.

I’d personally go to the OffRoad specific shop and save the headache.

If the shop is just going to aim for factory settings its not worth it.

I'd ask both what they are going to do. I'm going to assume the offroad shop knows better.

Lucky here in CO very technical Toyota specialized 4x4shops. To me $120 4x4shop alignment is well worth over $100 Les schwab as I think since Toyota specialized 4x4shops do it daily for modified Toyota 4x4s have better knowledge & experience.

That is a fair point. Money wise it's not that much more but the les schwab is 5 minutes away, where as the shop is closer to 30-40 each way so if I have any issues id have to make the drive each time.

I would also assume they know better but if like you said they are both aiming for stock numbers it may not be worth the extra money and longer commute.

See if the nearby shop will follow these directions. If they scoff at it, have someone else do it.

They have to do a max caster alignment.

It needs to be done in this order.
Turn the rear cams all the way outward.
Turn the front cams all the way inward.

This maxes out the caster and sets both sides equally forward.

    Set Toe to factory
    Set Camber to factory

This leaves the caster as high as possible, and the tow and camber get set to factory specs.

When they do the caster first, they'll never get that number high again and tell you "that's the best we could do" and it will be like 1.5-2* maybe. It should be between 3-4* with this method.
