I recently purchased a 5th gen TRD Off-Road Premium from a private seller. I found this mounted on the headliner just inside the rear door. I asked the guy i bought it from if he knew what it was and he thinks its a speaker; says it was there when he bought from the dealer. The manuals don’t mention anything about it. Does anyone know what this is? It has off, low, hi settings.

It's got a word on it, probably a brand name. Do you know what it says?

It's a "bug"(microphone) and probably has a GPS locator hooked in with it. Oh, by the way.. Welcome from Wisconsin!

Welcome. Yes this is a microphone. Can probably just pull it out. Usually will be a regular 3.5 or 2.5 jack to plug into something.

To Backpacker… No brand name. Thanks for the responses everyone! Gonna start working on removing the “bug” today. Safe travels

Hmm. It's probably a microphone with a sensitivity pad, although it could also be a little speaker with volume control. Is it some kind of aftermarket noise canceling phone setup, or just a secondary mic for phone input? Or some kind of aftermarket alarm?

Pull and trace wire. Do you have an OEM headhunt or aftermarket?
