What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Honestly, It's well made and great for roadtrips/ camping. That, and I love how the truck looks with it on. The downside is it's weight; my MPG is even worse with it on. So when I am not using it, I remove it. I have a neighbor with a 5th gen and Prinsu RR. He get's about 15.5 MPG compared to my 13.0 MPG.

 

Maybe not what I did today. But what's came in through Amazon and UPS here lately.

1. Got my TRD skid plate in from BAM. Gonna have to install next week when I have some off time.
2. FINALLY found some red buttons for my MESO remote. Found them on the Caliraisedoffroad websit

Did finally upgrade my door lights to red (that's dirt and dust under the door. Not rust.).

I bought the covers for the rear seats about a month or so ago. All I REALLY wanted was the small strip where the rings are, but you couldn't just buy that. Oh well. Two rubber matters are better than one I suppose.

 

If you wanna see it work, go drive a bunch of high way. Get the engine hot for extended periods of time and you'll collect a good bit. Shorter trips won't collect as much since you're not up to temp for very long.

 

damn its THAT heavy?! thats a big hit. ive been looking at one. i commute via train to work so im not too worried about mpg right now, but my job may change soon so i gotta consider that. sheesh.

 

Found 360⁰ aerosol diffuser nozzles by accident, been looking online for these. About to shoot up my frame...rust.

 

Let us know how those work, I got the wool wax wand off Amazon and it leaked big time.

 

It's not THAT heavy. I lifted mine onto the roof alone and I'm not a big guy.

I lost 1 mpg with it on (Gobi No Rise).

The full-size version is around 70lbs, which is actually over half of the 4Runner’s moving capacity of 120lbs (per Toyota, but aftermarket companies love to inflate this value so their rack doesn’t seem to take up so much of the limit).

 

It does suck to see a 4Runner go down like that. But it did it’s job by keeping everybody inside safe.

 

Got my red buttons put in. These things are hard to find. Luckily, Cali Raised Off Road had them. Cost more to ship them than I paid for them, but it's done.

 

Installed my Naviks enTune 3 motion lockout bypass. I was a bit concerned about taking the dash apart and pulling the head unit but I was shocked how easy it actually was. I'm glad I'll now have full control of all factory functions while in motion. Worth the hundr d seventy five bucks IMHO.

 

Reviving the hitch, then much more

 

New brake pads on all 4 corners. Rears were starting to sing a little so had to put an end to that. Fronts could have made it a few more months but I was doing the rear so went ahead and did them all. Went with Raybestos EHT (element 3). Seem to be pretty good.

 

Not sure it’s doing anything yet but bought some speaker upgrades form Crutchfield

will be a nice father son project

Hey Y’all. New here. I couldn’t find a good solution to mount my Scangauge 3 so I put it in the sunglasses holder. I like things to look pretty stock so I thought to myself why not give it a try. Bought a thin Ethernet cable with a 90 degree downward bend. Scangauge port is upside down. Got Ethernet female to female coupler. Ran everything up the A pillar from the OBD port. Dropped the overhead console and drilled a hole in the black part of the sunglasses holder a used a stick-on magnet to hold the Scangauge in place but can be removed if necessary. I’m honestly shocked this worked so well.

 

I don't want to be that guy. But keeping it there would not let you see the guages all the time right? I thought I saw some one mount it on A-Pillar.
How about under the Hvac controls where it has a cubby? Just an idea. I have my front camera screen and scangauge 2 in that spot.

Not sure I understand but I can see all the gauges all the time just fine.

 

My bad. I thought you would close the sunglasses thing to viw the rear view mirror on highway driving. If you keep it open all the time then its all good.

 

Ah gotcha. Yeah so there is a hair of interference with the mirror view. I’m going to tinker with it a bit more and see if I can adjust my mirror. Tighten the mounting screws a little bit more on the overhead console. Slouch a little more. Hahaha

 

Yes. Previous set on the 4Runner were P rated too. I have had Duratracs in E Rated on a Jeep Wrangler. Way stiff.

 

FYI- you prob already know this, but the mirror has two pivot points, not just one. It was a long time before I figured that out. I was so happy to make that discovery lol.

New winch line and Agency 6 shackle.

 

Like many others have done, relocated the rear diff breather to under hood. Used ARB style kit from ebay. $41 delivered. Wrapped the polyethylene hose in loom for extra protection exiting diff and under hood. Unsued Xreas clips came in handy to secure tubing alongside frame. Used 3M 4910 VHB tape to mount manifold on backside of drivers wheel well.
